ምንአልባት ካላስተዋላችኹት ምግብ አይደለም፡፡

for he confirmed it not , and did not pray ,
አላመነምም አልሰገደምም ፡ ፡

and we defer it not but to a term determined .
( ይህንን ቀን ) ለተቆጠረም ጊዜ እንጂ አናቆየውም ፡ ፡

is it not a lie invented by them when they say :
ንቁ ! እነርሱ ከቅጥፈታቸው ( የተነሳ ) ይላሉ ፡ -

cause ye it not to return , if ye say sooth ?
እውነተኞች እንደ ኾናችሁ ( ነፍሲቱን ወደ አካሉ ) ለምን አትመልሷትም ፡ ፡

beware ! they do spread disorder but they realize it not .
ንቁ እነርሱ አጥፊዎቹ እነሱው ናቸው ፤ ግን አያውቁም ፡ ፡

so why is it not , that if you are not to be repaid , –
የማትዳኙም ከኾናችሁ ፡ ፡

so why was it not , when the soul reaches up to the throat , –
( ነፍስ ) ጉረሮንም በደረሰች ጊዜ ፡ ፡

and it will come to them suddenly while they perceive [ it ] not .
እነርሱ የማያውቁ ሲኾኑ ( ቅጣቱ ) ድንገት እስከሚመጣባቸውም ድረስ ( አያምኑም ) ፡ ፡

was it not a proof for them that the learned men of israel knew about this ?
የእስራኤል ልጆች ሊቃውንት የሚያውቁት መኾኑ ለእነርሱ ( ለመካ ከሓዲዎች ) ምልክት አይኾናቸውምን

and they plotted a plot , and we plotted a plot , while they perceived it not .
ተንኮልንም መከሩ ፡ ፡ እነርሱም የማያወቁ ሲኾኑ በተንኮላቸው አጠፋናቸው ፡ ፡

who, being in the form of god, thought it not robbery to be equal with god:
እርሱ በእግዚአብሔር መልክ ሲኖር ሳለ ከእግዚአብሔር ጋር መተካከልን መቀማት እንደሚገባ ነገር አልቈጠረውም፥

and has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the children of israel ?
የእስራኤል ልጆች ሊቃውንት የሚያውቁት መኾኑ ለእነርሱ ( ለመካ ከሓዲዎች ) ምልክት አይኾናቸውምን

and had it not been for the favor of my lord , i would certainly have been among those brought up .
« የጌታየም ጸጋ ባልነበረ ኖሮ ወደ እሳት ከሚቀርቡት እሆን ነበር ፡ ፡ »

and there is not a thing but with us are the stores thereof . and we send it not down save in appointed measure .
መካዚኖቹም ( መክፈቻቸው ) እኛ ዘንድ ያልሆነ ምንም ነገር የለም ፡ ፡ በተወሰነም ልክ እንጂ አናወርደውም ፡ ፡

and had it not been that we had already established you , you would certainly have been near to incline to them a little ;
ባላረጋንህም ኖሮ ወደነሱ ጥቂትን ( ዝንባሌ ) ልትዘነበል በእርግጥ በተቃረብክ ነበር ፡ ፡

and had it not been for the favour of my lord , i too had been of those haled forth ( to doom ) .
« የጌታየም ጸጋ ባልነበረ ኖሮ ወደ እሳት ከሚቀርቡት እሆን ነበር ፡ ፡ »

is it not evidence enough for them that the learned among the children of israel have recognized this [ as true ] ?
የእስራኤል ልጆች ሊቃውንት የሚያውቁት መኾኑ ለእነርሱ ( ለመካ ከሓዲዎች ) ምልክት አይኾናቸውምን

that they may eat of the fruit thereof ; and their hands worked it not . will they not , therefore , give thanks ?
ከፍሬውና እጆቻቸው ከሠሩትም ይበሉ ዘንድ ( ይህን አደረግን ) ፤ አያመሰግኑምን ?

fain would they deceive allah and those who believe , but they only deceive themselves , and realise ( it ) not !
አላህንና እነዚያን ያመኑትን ( ሰዎች ) ያታልላሉ ፤ የማያውቁ ሲኾኑ ነፍሶቻቸውን እንጅ ሌላን አያታልሉም ፡ ፡
