''আর অন্ধকারের অনিষ্ট থেকে যখন তা আচ্ছন্ন করে ফেলে,

and the dawn as it breathes away the darkness ; -
আর প ্ রভাতকে যখন তা উজ ্ জ ্ বল হতে থাকে ,

who guides you in the darkness of the land and sea ? who sends the breezes as heralds of his mercy ?
আচ ্ ছা ! কে তোমাদের পথ দেখিয়ে দেন স ্ থলদেশের ও সমুদ ্ রের অন ্ ধকারে , আর কে পাঠিয়ে থাকেন বায়ুপ ্ রবাহ তাঁর করুণা-বিজড়িত সুসংবাদদাতারূপে ? আল ্ লাহ ্ ‌ র সঙ ্ গে কি অন ্ য উপাস ্ য আছে ? তারা যে-সব অংশী দাঁড় করায় তা থেকে আল ্ লাহ ্ বহু ঊর ্ ধ ্ বে !

is he who guides you in the darkness of land and sea and who sends the winds as harbingers of his mercy ... ? what !
আচ ্ ছা ! কে তোমাদের পথ দেখিয়ে দেন স ্ থলদেশের ও সমুদ ্ রের অন ্ ধকারে , আর কে পাঠিয়ে থাকেন বায়ুপ ্ রবাহ তাঁর করুণা-বিজড়িত সুসংবাদদাতারূপে ? আল ্ লাহ ্ ‌ র সঙ ্ গে কি অন ্ য উপাস ্ য আছে ? তারা যে-সব অংশী দাঁড় করায় তা থেকে আল ্ লাহ ্ বহু ঊর ্ ধ ্ বে !

it is all the same to him whether you speak in secret or out loud , try to hide in the darkness of night or walk in the brightness of day .
একসমান তোমাদের মধ ্ যে যে কথা লুকোয় ও যে তা খুলে বলে , আর যে রাত ্ রিবেলায় আ ‌ ত ্ মগোপন করে আর দিনের বেলায় বিচরণ করে ।

those who believe , and whose hearts find comfort in the remembrance of allah . is it not with the remembrance of allah that hearts are satisfied .
''যারা আস্থা স্থাপন করেছে আর আল্লাহ্‌র গুণকীর্তনে যাদের হৃদয় প্রশান্ত হয়।’’ এটি কি নয় যে আল্লাহ্‌র গুণগানেই হৃদয় প্রশান্তি লাভ করে?

it is god who created the stars so that you could find your way thereby in the darkness of the land and sea . we have explained our evidence to the people of knowledge .
আর তিনিই সেইজন যিনি তোমাদের জন ্ য সৃষ ্ টি করেছেন তারকারাজি , যেন তোমরা তাদের সাহায ্ যে স ্ থলের ও সমুদ ্ রের অন ্ ধকারে পথ চলতে পারো । আমরা নিশ ্ চয়ই নিদর ্ শনসমূহ বিশদভাবে বিবৃত করেছি এমন লোকের জন ্ য যারা জ ্ ঞান রাখে ।

and it is he who created the stars for you , that you may be guided by them in the darkness of land and sea . we thus explain the revelations for people who know .
আর তিনিই সেইজন যিনি তোমাদের জন ্ য সৃষ ্ টি করেছেন তারকারাজি , যেন তোমরা তাদের সাহায ্ যে স ্ থলের ও সমুদ ্ রের অন ্ ধকারে পথ চলতে পারো । আমরা নিশ ্ চয়ই নিদর ্ শনসমূহ বিশদভাবে বিবৃত করেছি এমন লোকের জন ্ য যারা জ ্ ঞান রাখে ।

and those who say : " o lord , give us comfort in our spouses and children , and make us paragons of those who follow the straight path . "
আর যারা বলে -- ''আমাদের প্রভু! আমাদের স্ত্রীদের থেকে ও আমাদের সন্তান-সন্ততি থেকে চোখ-জোড়ানো আনন্দ আমাদের প্রদান করো, আর আমাদের তুমি বানিয়ে দাও ধর্মপরায়ণদের নেতৃস্থানীয়।’’

and jonah , when he stormed out in fury , thinking we had no power over him . but then he cried out in the darkness , “ there is no god but you !
আর যুন-নূন , -- স ্ মরণ করো , তিনি চলে গিয়েছিলেন রেগেমেগে , আর তিনি ভেবেছিলেন যে আমরা কখনো তাঁর উপরে ক ্ ষমতা চালাব না , তখন সেই সংকটে তিনি আহ ্ বান করলেন যে ''তুমি ছাড়া অন্য উপাস্য নেই, তোমারই সব মহিমা, আমি নিশ্চয়ই ক্ষতিগ্রস্তদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হয়েছি।’’

leave me to deal with the deniers , lords of ease and comfort ( in this life ) ; and do thou respite them awhile .
আর ছেড়ে দাও আমাকে এবং সত ্ যপ ্ রত ্ যাখ ্ যানকারীদের , বিলাস-সামগ ্ রীর অধিকারীদের , আর তাদের বিরাম দাও অল ্ পকাল ।

is not he ( best ) who guideth you in the darkness of the land and the sea , he who sendeth the winds as heralds of his mercy ? is there any allah beside allah ?
আচ ্ ছা ! কে তোমাদের পথ দেখিয়ে দেন স ্ থলদেশের ও সমুদ ্ রের অন ্ ধকারে , আর কে পাঠিয়ে থাকেন বায়ুপ ্ রবাহ তাঁর করুণা-বিজড়িত সুসংবাদদাতারূপে ? আল ্ লাহ ্ ‌ র সঙ ্ গে কি অন ্ য উপাস ্ য আছে ? তারা যে-সব অংশী দাঁড় করায় তা থেকে আল ্ লাহ ্ বহু ঊর ্ ধ ্ বে !

all praise belongs to allah who created the heavens and the earth and made the darkness and the light . yet the faithless equate [ others ] with their lord .
সমস ্ ত প ্ রশংসা আল ্ লাহ ্ ‌ র জন ্ য যিনি মহাকাশমন ্ ডল ও পৃথিবী সৃষ ্ টি করেছেন , আর তিনি তৈরি করেছেন অন ্ ধকার ও আলো । তবু যারা অবিশ ্ বাস পোষণ করে তারা তাদের প ্ রভুর সাথে দাঁড় করায় সমকক ্ ষ ।

" ( are the idols worthier or ) the one who guides you in the darkness of the land and sea and sends the winds bearing the glad news of his mercy ? is there any lord besides god ?
আচ ্ ছা ! কে তোমাদের পথ দেখিয়ে দেন স ্ থলদেশের ও সমুদ ্ রের অন ্ ধকারে , আর কে পাঠিয়ে থাকেন বায়ুপ ্ রবাহ তাঁর করুণা-বিজড়িত সুসংবাদদাতারূপে ? আল ্ লাহ ্ ‌ র সঙ ্ গে কি অন ্ য উপাস ্ য আছে ? তারা যে-সব অংশী দাঁড় করায় তা থেকে আল ্ লাহ ্ বহু ঊর ্ ধ ্ বে !

and [ remember ] the man of the fish , when he left in a rage , thinking that we would not put him to hardship . then he cried out in the darkness , ‘ there is no god except you !
আর যুন-নূন , -- স ্ মরণ করো , তিনি চলে গিয়েছিলেন রেগেমেগে , আর তিনি ভেবেছিলেন যে আমরা কখনো তাঁর উপরে ক ্ ষমতা চালাব না , তখন সেই সংকটে তিনি আহ ্ বান করলেন যে ''তুমি ছাড়া অন্য উপাস্য নেই, তোমারই সব মহিমা, আমি নিশ্চয়ই ক্ষতিগ্রস্তদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হয়েছি।’’

we stopped one after another, on rolling-roads, on parking spaces, we stopped them, unpacked and turned off the lights, our planes were in the darkness. it was an awful feeling, we had to leave them there.
প্রায় মাঝরাতে আমরা ইআইএনএন , একের পর এক বিমান নামতে থাকে এবং সুন্দরভাবে এগিয়ে যায়, রোলিং রোড-এর, রাখার জায়গায়-এ, আমরা সেগুলোকে থামাই, সব কিছু উন্মোচন করি এবং বিমানগুলোর বাতি নিভিয়ে দেই, আমাদের বিমানগুলো অন্ধকারে মিশে যায়, এটা ছিল এক অদ্ভুত বাজে অনুভূতি, বিমানগুলোকে সেখানে রেখে আমাদের চলে আসতে হল।
