then they defied the command of their lord; so the thunderbolt seized them as they looked on.
ފަހެ، އެއުރެންގެ ވެރިރަސްކަލާނގެ أمر ފުޅާ خلاف ވެ، އެއުރެން كبر ވެރިވޫއެވެ. ދެން އެއުރެން ބަލަބަލައި ތިއްބައި ހޮނުގުގުރި އެއުރެންގައި ހިފިއެވެ.

but in their pride they turn away from the commandment of their lord and the thunderbolt struck them whilst they were looking;
ފަހެ، އެއުރެންގެ ވެރިރަސްކަލާނގެ أمر ފުޅާ خلاف ވެ، އެއުރެން كبر ވެރިވޫއެވެ. ދެން އެއުރެން ބަލަބަލައި ތިއްބައި ހޮނުގުގުރި އެއުރެންގައި ހިފިއެވެ.

but they disobeyed the command of their lord; so they were destroyed by a thunderbolt, and they could only gape,
ފަހެ، އެއުރެންގެ ވެރިރަސްކަލާނގެ أمر ފުޅާ خلاف ވެ، އެއުރެން كبر ވެރިވޫއެވެ. ދެން އެއުރެން ބަލަބަލައި ތިއްބައި ހޮނުގުގުރި އެއުރެންގައި ހިފިއެވެ.

but they rebelled against their lord's decree, and so the thunderbolt overtook them even while they gazed;
ފަހެ، އެއުރެންގެ ވެރިރަސްކަލާނގެ أمر ފުޅާ خلاف ވެ، އެއުރެން كبر ވެރިވޫއެވެ. ދެން އެއުރެން ބަލަބަލައި ތިއްބައި ހޮނުގުގުރި އެއުރެންގައި ހިފިއެވެ.

then maybe my lord will give me what is better than your garden, and send on it a thunderbolt from heaven so that it shall become even ground without plant,
އަދި ކަލޭގެ ބަގީޗާއަށް، ކަލޭ ވަންހިނދު، اللَّه އިރާދަކުރެއްވިކަމެއްވާނެއޭ ބުނިނަމަ، ކޮންފަދަހެއްޔެވެ! އެއްވެސް ބާރެއް اللَّه ގެ حضرة ން މެނުވީ ނުވެއެވެ. ކަލެޔަށްވުރެ އަހުރެންގެ މުދަލާއި ދަރިން މަދުކަމުގައި ކަލެޔަށް ފެނުނަސް، ފަހެ، ކަލޭގެ ބަގީޗާއަށްވުރެ މާހެޔޮވެގެންވާ نعمة އަހުރެންގެ ވެރިރަސްކަލާނގެ އަހުރެންނަށް ދެއްވައިފާށިއެވެ! އަދި އެ ބަގީޗާގެ މައްޗަށް އުޑުން އާފާތެއް ފޮނުއްވައި، ގަހެއް ރުކެއްނެތް އޮމާން ބިމަކަށް އެތަންވެދާނެތެވެ.

and as for thamud, we guided them, but they preferred blindness over guidance, so the thunderbolt of humiliating punishment seized them for what they used to earn.
އަދި ثمود ބާގައިމީހުން ދަންނާށެވެ! ފަހެ، ތިމަންރަސްކަލާނގެ އެއުރެންނަށް ތެދުމަގު ދެއްކެވީމެވެ. ފަހެ، އެއުރެން ތެދުމަގު ލިބުމުގެ ބަދަލުގައި، ކަނުކަން (އެބަހީ: މަގު ފުރެދުން) اختيار ކުރޫއެވެ. އެއުރެން ހޯދައިއުޅުނު عمل ތަކުގެ ސަބަބުން، އިހާނަތްތެރި عذاب ގެ ހޮނުގުގުރި އެއުރެންގައި ހިފިއެވެ.

and when you said, 'moses, we will not believe thee till we see god openly'; and the thunderbolt took you while you were beholding.
އަދި އޭ موسى ގެފާނެވެ! ފާޅުގައި އަހަރެމެން اللَّه ދެކެފުމަށްދާނދެން އަހަރެމެން ކަލޭގެފާނަކަށް إيمان އެއް ނުވާނޫއޭ ތިޔަބައިމީހުން ދެންނެވިހިނދު، ހަނދުމަކުރާށެވެ! ދެން ތިޔަބައިމީހުން ބަލަބަލައިތިއްބައި، ހޮނުގުގުރި ތިޔަބައިމީހުންގެ މަރު ހިފައިފިއެވެ.

and when you said to moses: 'we will not believe in you until we see allah openly' a thunderbolt struck you whilst you were looking.
އަދި އޭ موسى ގެފާނެވެ! ފާޅުގައި އަހަރެމެން اللَّه ދެކެފުމަށްދާނދެން އަހަރެމެން ކަލޭގެފާނަކަށް إيمان އެއް ނުވާނޫއޭ ތިޔަބައިމީހުން ދެންނެވިހިނދު، ހަނދުމަކުރާށެވެ! ދެން ތިޔަބައިމީހުން ބަލަބަލައިތިއްބައި، ހޮނުގުގުރި ތިޔަބައިމީހުންގެ މަރު ހިފައިފިއެވެ.

and recall what time ye said: o musa! we will not believe in thee until we see god openly; then a thunderbolt took hold of you while ye looked on.
އަދި އޭ موسى ގެފާނެވެ! ފާޅުގައި އަހަރެމެން اللَّه ދެކެފުމަށްދާނދެން އަހަރެމެން ކަލޭގެފާނަކަށް إيمان އެއް ނުވާނޫއޭ ތިޔަބައިމީހުން ދެންނެވިހިނދު، ހަނދުމަކުރާށެވެ! ދެން ތިޔަބައިމީހުން ބަލަބަލައިތިއްބައި، ހޮނުގުގުރި ތިޔަބައިމީހުންގެ މަރު ހިފައިފިއެވެ.

and recall that you said, “o moses, we will not believe in you unless we see god plainly.” thereupon the thunderbolt struck you, as you looked on.
އަދި އޭ موسى ގެފާނެވެ! ފާޅުގައި އަހަރެމެން اللَّه ދެކެފުމަށްދާނދެން އަހަރެމެން ކަލޭގެފާނަކަށް إيمان އެއް ނުވާނޫއޭ ތިޔަބައިމީހުން ދެންނެވިހިނދު، ހަނދުމަކުރާށެވެ! ދެން ތިޔަބައިމީހުން ބަލަބަލައިތިއްބައި، ހޮނުގުގުރި ތިޔަބައިމީހުންގެ މަރު ހިފައިފިއެވެ.

and regarding the thamud, we showed them the right path – so they chose to be blind above being guided, therefore the thunderbolt of the disgraceful punishment overcame them – the recompense of their deeds.
އަދި ثمود ބާގައިމީހުން ދަންނާށެވެ! ފަހެ، ތިމަންރަސްކަލާނގެ އެއުރެންނަށް ތެދުމަގު ދެއްކެވީމެވެ. ފަހެ، އެއުރެން ތެދުމަގު ލިބުމުގެ ބަދަލުގައި، ކަނުކަން (އެބަހީ: މަގު ފުރެދުން) اختيار ކުރޫއެވެ. އެއުރެން ހޯދައިއުޅުނު عمل ތަކުގެ ސަބަބުން، އިހާނަތްތެރި عذاب ގެ ހޮނުގުގުރި އެއުރެންގައި ހިފިއެވެ.

"it may be that my lord will give me something better than thy garden, and that he will send on thy garden thunderbolts (by way of reckoning) from heaven, making it (but) slippery sand!-
އަދި ކަލޭގެ ބަގީޗާއަށް، ކަލޭ ވަންހިނދު، اللَّه އިރާދަކުރެއްވިކަމެއްވާނެއޭ ބުނިނަމަ، ކޮންފަދަހެއްޔެވެ! އެއްވެސް ބާރެއް اللَّه ގެ حضرة ން މެނުވީ ނުވެއެވެ. ކަލެޔަށްވުރެ އަހުރެންގެ މުދަލާއި ދަރިން މަދުކަމުގައި ކަލެޔަށް ފެނުނަސް، ފަހެ، ކަލޭގެ ބަގީޗާއަށްވުރެ މާހެޔޮވެގެންވާ نعمة އަހުރެންގެ ވެރިރަސްކަލާނގެ އަހުރެންނަށް ދެއްވައިފާށިއެވެ! އަދި އެ ބަގީޗާގެ މައްޗަށް އުޑުން އާފާތެއް ފޮނުއްވައި، ގަހެއް ރުކެއްނެތް އޮމާން ބިމަކަށް އެތަންވެދާނެތެވެ.
