it is he who has made for you the stars that you may follow the right direction in the darkness of the land and the sea. we have indeed spelled out signs for the people who have knowledge.
اور اسی نے تمہارے لیے ستارے بنائے ہیں تاکہ ان کے ذریعے سے جنگل اوردریا کےاندھیروں میں راستہ معلوم کر سکو تحقیق ہم نے کھول کر نشانیاں بیان کر دی ہیں ان لوگو ں کے لیے جو جانتے ہیں

and on the day when he will gather them as though they had not stayed but an hour of the day, they will know each other. they will perish indeed who called the meeting with allah to be a lie, and they are not followers of the right direction.
(آج یہ دُنیا کی زندگی میں مست ہیں) اور جس روز اللہ اِن کو اکٹھا کرے گا تو (یہی دُنیا کی زندگی اِنہیں ایسی محسُوس ہوگی) گویا یہ محض ایک گھڑی بھر آپس میں جان پہچان کرنے کو ٹھیرے تھے (اس وقت تحقیق ہو جائے گا کہ) فی الواقع سخت گھاٹے میں رہے وہ لوگ جنہوں نے اللہ کی ملاقات کو جھٹلایا اور ہرگز وہ راہِ راست پر نہ تھے

they glory in the grace and the bounty from allah, and in the fact that allah suffereth not the reward of the faithful to be lost (in the least).
الله کی نعمت اور فضل سے خوش ہوتے ہیں اوراس بات سے کہ الله ایمانداروں کی مزدوری کو ضائع نہیں کرتا

and thus we established joseph in the land to settle therein wherever he willed. we touch with our mercy whom we will, and we do not allow to be lost the reward of those who do good.
اس طرح ہم نے یوسف کو ملک (مصر) میں جگہ دی اور وہ اس ملک میں جہاں چاہتے تھے رہتے تھے۔ ہم اپنی رحمت جس پر چاہتے ہیں کرتے ہیں اور نیکوکاروں کے اجر کو ضائع نہیں کرتے

he it is who shapes you in the wombs as he pleases. la ilaha illa huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but he), the all-mighty, the all-wise.
وہ خدا جس طرح چاہتا ہے رحهِ مادر کے اندر تصویریں بناتا ہے اس کے علاوہ کوئی خدا نہیں ہے وہ صاحب عزّت بھی ہے اور صاحب هحکمت بھی

some people worship god to achieve worldly gains. they are confident when they are prosperous, but when they face hardships they turn away from (worship). they are lost in this life and will be lost in the life to come. such loss is indeed destructive.
اور بعض وہ لوگ ہیں کہ الله کی بندگی کنارے پر ہو کر کرتے ہیں پھر اگر اسے کچھ فائدہ پہنچ گیا تو اس عبادت پر قائم ہو گیا اور اگر تکلیف پہنچ گئی تو منہ کے بل پھر گیا دنیا اور آخرت گنوائی یہی وہ صریح خسارا ہے

so will one whose misdeeds are made seeming good to him – so he deems them good – be ever equal to the one who is upon guidance? therefore indeed allah sends astray whomever he wills, and guides whomever he wills; so may not your life be lost in despairing after them; allah knows their deeds very well.
(بھلا کچھ ٹھکانا ہے اُس شخص کی گمراہی کا) جس کے لیے اُس کا برا عمل خوشنما بنا دیا گیا ہو اور وہ اُسے اچھا سمجھ رہا ہو؟ حقیقت یہ ہے کہ اللہ جسے چاہتا ہے گمراہی میں ڈال دیتا ہے اور جسے چاہتا ہے راہ راست دکھا دیتا ہے پس (اے نبیؐ) خواہ مخواہ تمہاری جان ان لوگوں کی خاطر غم و افسوس میں نہ گھلے جو کچھ یہ کر رہے ہیں اللہ اُس کو خوب جانتا ہے

we shall remove all grudges from their hearts. they will enjoy the flowing streams in the garden and will say, "god who guided us to this, deserves all praise. had he not guided us, we would never have been able to find the right direction. the (angelic) messengers of our lord came to us with the truth." they shall be told, 'this is the paradise which you have inherited because of your good deeds."
ان کے دلوں میں ایک دوسرے کے خلاف جو کچھ کدورت ہوگی اسے ہم نکال دیں گے اُن کے نیچے نہریں بہتی ہونگی، اور وہ کہیں گے کہ "تعریف خدا ہی کے لیے ہے جس نے ہمیں یہ راستہ دکھایا، ہم خود راہ نہ پا سکتے تھے اگر خدا ہماری رہنمائی نہ کرتا، ہمارے رب کے بھیجے ہوئے رسول واقعی حق ہی لے کر آئے تھے" اُس وقت ندا آئے گی کہ "یہ جنت جس کے تم وارث بنائے گئے ہو تمہیں اُن اعمال کے بدلے میں ملی ہے جو تم کرتے رہے تھے"
