then it occurred to the men, after they had seen the signs, (that it was best) to imprison him for a time.
(யூஸுஃப் குற்றமற்றவர் என்பதற்குப் பல) அத்தாட்சிகளை அவர்கள் பார்த்த பின்னரும், ஒரு காலம் வரை அவர் சிறையிலிடப்பட வேண்டும் என்றே அவர்களுக்குத் தோன்றியது.

(நபியே!) நிச்சயமாக உமக்கு முன்னரும், நாம் தூதர்களை அனுப்பி வைத்தோம்; அவர்களுக்கும் மனைவியரையும், சந்ததிகளையும் நாம் ஏற்படுத்தியிருந்தோம்; மேலும், எந்தத் தூதரும் அல்லாஹ்வின் அனுமிதியில்லாமல் எந்த அத்தாட்சியையும் கொண்டுவந்ததில்லை ஒவ்வொரு தவணைக்கும் ஒரு (பதிவு) ஏடு உள்ளது.

so they impugned him, and then they were overtaken by the punishment of the day of the overshadowing cloud. it was indeed the punishment of a terrible day.
நிச்சயமாக இதிலே ஓர் அத்தாட்சி இருக்கிறது எனினும் அவர்களில் பெரும்பாலோர் நம்பிக்கை கொள்வதில்லை.

that is because they said, “the fire will not touch us except for a limited number of days.” they have been misled in their religion by the lies they fabricated.
இதற்குக் காரணம்; எண்ணிக் கணக்கிடப்பட்ட (சில) நாட்களே தவிர (நரக) நெருப்பு எப்போதைக்கும் எங்களைத் தீண்டாது என்று அவர்கள் கூறிக் கொண்டிருப்பதுதான.; (இது) தவிர அவர்கள் தம் மார்க்க(விஷய)த்தில் பொய்யாகக் கற்பனை செய்து கூறிவந்ததும் அவர்களை ஏமாற்றி விட்டது.

and he it is who hath set for you the stars that ye may guide your course by them amid the darkness of the land and the sea. we have detailed our revelations for a people who have knowledge.
அவனே உங்களுக்காக நட்சத்திரங்களை உண்டாக்கினான்; அவற்றைக் கொண்டு நீங்கள் கரையிலும், கடலிலும் உள்ள இருள்களில் நீங்கள் வழியறிந்து செல்கிறீர்கள் - அறியக்கூடிய மக்களுக்கு நிச்சயமாக (நம்) வசனங்களை இவ்வாறு விவரிக்கிறோம்.

and he it is who has made the stars for you that you might follow the right way thereby in the darkness of the land and the sea; truly we have made plain the communications for a people who know.
அவனே உங்களுக்காக நட்சத்திரங்களை உண்டாக்கினான்; அவற்றைக் கொண்டு நீங்கள் கரையிலும், கடலிலும் உள்ள இருள்களில் நீங்கள் வழியறிந்து செல்கிறீர்கள் - அறியக்கூடிய மக்களுக்கு நிச்சயமாக (நம்) வசனங்களை இவ்வாறு விவரிக்கிறோம்.

nor were you by the side of the mount when we proclaimed. rather, it was a mercy from your lord, that you may warn people who received no warner before you, so that they may take heed.
இன்னும் நாம் (மூஸாவை) அழைத்தபோது, நீர் தூர் மலையின் பக்கத்தில் இருக்கவுமில்லை எனினும் எந்த மக்களுக்கு, உமக்கு முன்னால் அச்சமூட்டி எச்சரிக்கை செய்பவர் அனுப்பப்படவில்லையோ, அவர்கள் நல்லுபதேசம் பெறும் பொருட்டு அவர்களை அச்சமூட்டி எச்சரிப்பதற்காக உமக்கு உம் இறைவனிடமிருந்து அருட்கொடையாக (இவைக் கூறப்படுகிறது).

we sent other messengers before you; of some, we have already told you, of others we have not told you. yet it was not for any messenger to bring a verse except by the permission of allah. and when the command of allah comes the matter will be justly decided; and the vaindoers will be lost.
திட்டமாக நாம் உமக்கு முன்னர் தூதர்களை அனுப்பியிருக்கின்றோம்; அவர்களில் சிலருடைய வரலாற்றை உமக்குக் கூறியுள்ளோம்; இன்னும் எவர்களுடைய வரலாற்றை உமக்குக் கூறவில்லையோ (அவர்களும்) அத்தூதர்களில் இருக்கின்றனர் (இவ்விருசாராரில்) எந்தத் தூதரும் அல்லாஹ்வின் அனுமதியின்றி எந்த அத்தாட்சியையும் கொண்டு வருவதற்கு (அதிகாரமும்) இல்லை ஆகவே அல்லாஹ்வுடைய கட்டளைவரும் போது, (அனைவருக்கும்) நியாயமாகத் தீர்ப்பளிக்கப்படும்; அன்றியும், அந்த இடத்தில் பொய்யர்கள் தாம் நஷ்டமடைவார்கள்.

ask them about the town which was by the sea and what befell its people when they broke the sabbath. on their sabbath the fish came to them near the surface, but on week-days they never came near them -- thus we tried them because of their disobedience.
(நபியே!) கடற்கரையிலிருந்த (ஓர்) ஊர் மக்களைப்பற்றி நீர் அவர்களைக் கேளும் - அவர்கள் (தடுக்கப்பட்ட ஸப்து) சனிக்கிழமையன்று வரம்பை மீறி (மீன் வேட்டையாடி)க் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்; ஏனென்றால் அவர்களுடைய சனிக்கிழமையன்று (கடல்) மீன்கள், அவர்களுக்கு(த் தண்ணீருக்கு மேலே தலைகளை வெளியாக்கி)க் கொண்டு வந்தன - ஆனால் சனிக்கிழமையல்லாத நாட்களில் அவர்களிடம் (அவ்வாறு வெளியாக்கி) வருவதில்லை - அவர்கள் செய்து கொண்டிருந்த பாவத்தின் காரணமாக அவர்களை நாம் இவ்வாறு சோதனைக் குள்ளாக்கினோம்.

and a good land: its herbage cometh forth by the command of its lord; and that which is vile, it cometh forth only scantily. in this wise we vary the signs for a people who return thanks.
(ஒரே விதமான மழையைக் கொண்டே) வளமான பூமி தன் இறைவன் கட்டளையைக் கொண்டு (செழுமையாகப்) பயிர் (பச்சை)களை வெளிப்படுத்துகிறது ஆனால் கெட்ட களர் நிலம் சொற்பமான விளைச்சலையே வெளிப்படுத்துகிறது நன்றி செலுத்தும் மக்களுக்கு இவ்வாறே நாம் வசனங்களை விவரிக்கின்றோம்.

hast thou not seen how that the ships run upon the sea by the blessing of god, that he may show you some of his signs? surely in that are signs for every man enduring, thankful.
தன்னுடைய அத்தாட்சிகளை உங்களுக்குக் காண்பிப்பதற்காக வேண்டி, அல்லாஹ்வுடைய அருள் கொடையைக் கொண்டு நிச்சமயாகக் கப்பல் கடலில் (மிதந்து) செல்வதை நீர் காணவில்லையா? நிச்சயமாக இதில் பொறுமை மிக்க - நன்றியறிதலுடைய ஒவ்வொருவருக்கும் அத்தாட்சிகள் இருக்கின்றன.
