and we have not given them any books which they read, nor did we send to them before you a warner.
எனினும் (இதற்கு முன்) நாம் இவர்களுக்கு இவர்கள் ஓதக்கூடிய வேதங்கள் எதையும் கொடுக்கவில்லை உமக்கு முன்னர், நாம் இவர்களிடம் அச்சமூட்டி செய்பவரையும் அனுப்பவில்லை.

yet we have not given them any books to study, nor, before you, have we sent them a warner.
எனினும் (இதற்கு முன்) நாம் இவர்களுக்கு இவர்கள் ஓதக்கூடிய வேதங்கள் எதையும் கொடுக்கவில்லை உமக்கு முன்னர், நாம் இவர்களிடம் அச்சமூட்டி செய்பவரையும் அனுப்பவில்லை.

whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them.
(முஃமின்களின் மீது) அவர்கள் பாதுகாவலர்களாக அனுப்பப்படவில்லையே!

so leave them to indulge in vain idle talk and amuse themselves, until they face the day which they have been promised,
ஆகவே, அவர்களுக்கு வாக்களிக்கப் பட்ட அந்த நாளை அவர்கள் சந்திக்கும் வரையில், அவர்கள் விளையாடிக் கொண்டிருக்கவும் (வீணானவற்றில்) மூழ்கிக் கிடக்கவும், அவர்களை நீர் விட்டுவிடுவீராக.

or is it that they have not recognized their apostle, so that they deny him?
அல்லது அவர்கள் தங்களுடைய (இறுதித்) தூதரைச் சரிவர அறிந்து கொள்ளாது அவரை நிராகரிக்கிறவர்களாய் இருக்கின்றார்களா?

and it behoves them not, and they have not the power to do (it).
மேலும், அது அவர்களுக்கு தகுதியுமல்ல (அதற்கு) அவர்கள் சக்தி பெறவும் மாட்டார்கள்.

(muhammad), leave them alone to dispute and play until they face the day with which they have been threatened:
ஆகவே, அவர்களுக்கு வாக்களிக்கப் பட்ட அந்த நாளை அவர்கள் சந்திக்கும் வரையில், அவர்கள் விளையாடிக் கொண்டிருக்கவும் (வீணானவற்றில்) மூழ்கிக் கிடக்கவும், அவர்களை நீர் விட்டுவிடுவீராக.

நான் படித்து முடித்து இதோடு ஆறு மாதம் காலம் ஆகியும் தாங்கள் இன்னும் வேலை பெற்று தராத காரணத்தினால் நான் கொடுத்த தொகையைத் திருப்பித் தந்து விடுமாறு கேட்டுக் கொள்கிறேன்.

"zachariah, we bring you good news of a son whose name shall be john. we have not given such a name to anyone before."
"ஜகரிய்யாவே! யஹ்யா என்ற பெயர் கொண்ட ஒரு புதல்வனை(த் தருவது) பற்றி நிச்சயமாக நாம் உமக்கு நற்செய்தி கூறுகிறோம். இதற்கு முன்னர் இப்பெயர் கொண்டவரை நாம் ஆக்கவில்லை" (என்று இறைவன் கூறினான்).

upon the day when the hour is come, the sinners shall swear they have not tarried above an hour; so they were perverted.
அன்றியும், (நியாயத் தீர்ப்புக்குரிய) நாழிகை வரும் அந்நாளில் குற்றவாளிகள் தாங்கள் (இவ்வுலகில்) ஒரு நாழிகையே அன்றி (அதிக நேரம்) தங்கி இருக்க வில்லை என்று பிரமாணம் செய்வார்கள்; இவ்வாறு (இவ்வுலகிலும் உண்மையிலிருந்து) அவர்கள் திருப்பப்படுபவர்களாக இருந்தனர்.

on the day the last hour arrives, the evil-doers will swear they have not even tarried for an hour, they have always been deluded,
அன்றியும், (நியாயத் தீர்ப்புக்குரிய) நாழிகை வரும் அந்நாளில் குற்றவாளிகள் தாங்கள் (இவ்வுலகில்) ஒரு நாழிகையே அன்றி (அதிக நேரம்) தங்கி இருக்க வில்லை என்று பிரமாணம் செய்வார்கள்; இவ்வாறு (இவ்வுலகிலும் உண்மையிலிருந்து) அவர்கள் திருப்பப்படுபவர்களாக இருந்தனர்.

they have not estimated allah his rightful estimate; verily, allah is all-strong, all-mighty.
அவர்கள் அல்லாஹ்வைக் கண்ணியப்படுத்த வேண்டியாவாறு கண்ணயப்படுத்தவில்லை நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ் வல்லமை மிக்கவன்; (யாவரையும்) மிகைத்தவன்.

and indeed they have passed by the township whereon was rained the fatal rain. can it be that they have not seen it? nay, but they hope for no resurrection.
இன்னும்; நிச்சயமாக இ(ந்நிராகரிப்ப)வர்கள் ஒரு தீமையான (கல்) மாரி பொழிவிக்கப்பட்ட ஊருக்குச் சென்றிருக்கிறார்கள் - அதனையும் இவர்கள் பார்க்கவில்லையா? எனினும் (மரணத்திற்குப் பின் உயிர் கொடுத்து) எழுப்பப்படுவதை இவர்கள் நம்பவேயில்லை.

and when the hypocrites, and those in whose hearts is a disease, began saying, “allah and his noble messenger have not given us a promise except one of deceit.”
மேலும் (அச்சமயம் நயவஞ்சகர்கள்) முனாஃபிக்குகளும், எவர்களின் இருதயங்களில் நோயிருந்ததோ அவர்களும், "அல்லாஹ்வும், அவனுடைய தூதரும் நமக்கு ஏமாற்றத்தைத் தவிர (வேறு) எதையும் வாக்களிக்கவில்லை" என்று கூறிய சமயத்தையும் நினைவு கூருங்கள்.

and how many a town have we destroyed which exulted in its means of subsistence, so these are their abodes, they have not been dwelt in after them except a little, and we are the inheritors,
தங்களுடைய வாழ்க்கை வசதிகளின் செருக்கினால் (அழிச்சாட்டியம் செய்து கொண்டிருந்த) எத்தனையோ ஊ(ரா)ர்களை நாம் அழித்திருக்கிறோம்; இவை யாவும் அவர்கள் வாழ்ந்த இடங்களேயாகும்; அவர்களுக்குப் பின் சொற்பமான நேரம் தவிர அங்கு எவரும் வசிக்க வில்லை மேலும் நாமே (அவர்களுக்கு) வாரிசுகளாக்கினோம்.

among the believers are men who were true to their covenant with god; some of them have fulfilled their vow by death, and some are still awaiting, and they have not changed in the least;
முஃமின்களில் நின்றுமுள்ள மனிதர்கள் அல்லாஹ்விடம் அவர்கள் செய்துள்ள வாக்குறுதியில் உண்மையாக நடந்து கொண்டார்கள்; அவர்களில் சிலர் (ஷஹீதாக வேண்டும் என்ற) தம் இலட்சியத்தையும் அடைந்தார்கள்; வேறு சிலர் (ஆர்வத்துடன் அதை) எதிர் பார்த்துக் கொண்டு இருக்கிறார்கள் - (எந்த நிலைமையிலும்) அவர்கள் தங்கள் வாக்குறுதியிலிருந்து சிறிதும் மாறுபடவில்லை.

among the muslims are the men who have proved true what they had covenanted with allah; so among them is one who has already fulfilled his vow, and among them is one still waiting; and they have not changed a bit.
முஃமின்களில் நின்றுமுள்ள மனிதர்கள் அல்லாஹ்விடம் அவர்கள் செய்துள்ள வாக்குறுதியில் உண்மையாக நடந்து கொண்டார்கள்; அவர்களில் சிலர் (ஷஹீதாக வேண்டும் என்ற) தம் இலட்சியத்தையும் அடைந்தார்கள்; வேறு சிலர் (ஆர்வத்துடன் அதை) எதிர் பார்த்துக் கொண்டு இருக்கிறார்கள் - (எந்த நிலைமையிலும்) அவர்கள் தங்கள் வாக்குறுதியிலிருந்து சிறிதும் மாறுபடவில்லை.

delighting in what god has given them out of his grace, and happy for those who have not yet joined them; that they have nothing to fear, nor will they grieve.
தன் அருள் கொடையிலிருந்து அல்லாஹ் அவர்களுக்கு அளித்ததைக் கொண்டு அவர்கள் ஆனந்தத்துடன் இருக்கிறார்கள்;. மேலும் (போரில் ஈடுபட்டிருந்த தன் முஃமினான சகோதரர்களில் மரணத்தில்) தம்முடன் சேராமல் (இவ்வுலகில் உயிருடன்) இருப்போரைப் பற்றி; "அவர்களுக்கு எவ்வித பயமுமில்லை, அவர்கள் துக்கப்படவும் மாட்டார்கள்" என்று கூறி மகிழ்வடைகிறார்கள்.

and those who disbelieve say of those who believe: had it been good, they would not have preceded us thereto. and when they have not let themselves be guided thereby, they say: this is an ancient falsehood.
நிராகரிப்பவர்கள் ஈமான் கொண்டவர்களைப்பற்றி; "இது (குர்ஆன்) நல்லதாக இருந்தால், இவர்கள் எங்களைவிட அதன்பால் முந்தியிருக்க மாட்டார்கள்" என்று கூறினார்கள். மேலுமவர்கள் இதைக் கொண்டு நேர்வழி பெறாத போது "இது பண்டைக்காலக் கட்டுக் கதை" எனக் கூறுவார்கள்.
