the z-score indicates how many standard deviations the grade for a poster is above/below the mean among the grades from a given judge; this scoring method therefore corrects for the fact that judges may use different grading scales. a z-score of +0.80 means that a student’s grade was 0.8 standard deviations above the mean, while a z-score of -0.50 means that the grade was below the mean by 0.5 standard deviations. this score sheet is set up to automatically calculate the mean and standard deviation for each judge and uses that info to calculate the z- scores for each poster
