i am matiu rata, i was born on the 26th of march 1934, i was born in te hapua to my mother mereana and father Ãta. at this moment in time in 1997, i currently live in hikurangi in whangarei. throughout my life, i have moved all over aotearoa to many different places. i lived a hard but happy childhood losing my father at the age of 10. my father had to drop out of school and start work early so he was able to provide for us, this was something hard to do in te hapua so at age 5 my family mov
