mkavaa utu mpya. huu unaendelea kurekebishwa na mungu, muumba wake, kadiri ya mfano wake, ili mpate kumjua mungu kwa ukamilifu.
and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

kwa uwezo wake wa kimungu, mungu ametujalia mambo yote tunayohitaji, ili tuishi maisha ya kumcha mungu kwa kumjua yeye aliyetuita tuushiriki utukufu na wema wake yeye mwenyewe.
according as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

watu waliokwisha ponyoka katika upotovu wa ulimwengu kwa kupata kumjua bwana na mwokozi wetu yesu kristo, kisha wakakubali kunaswa na kutawaliwa tena na upotovu huo, hali yao itakuwa mbaya zaidi kuliko awali.
for if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the lord and saviour jesus christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

na vivyo hivyo tumekufanyeni muwe umma wa wasitani, ili muwe mashahidi juu ya watu, na mtume awe ni shahidi juu yenu. na hatukukifanya kibla ulicho kuwa nacho ila tupate kumjua yule anaye mfuata mtume na yule anaye geuka akarejea nyuma.
and so it is that we have made you the best nation* for you are witnesses** against mankind, and the noble messenger is your guardian and your witness; and (o dear prophet mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) we had appointed the qiblah which you formerly observed only to see (test) who follows the noble messenger, and who turns away; and it was indeed hard except for those whom allah guided; and it does not befit allah’s majesty to waste your faith!

maana, kadiri ya hekima ya mungu, watu hawawezi kumjua mungu kwa njia ya hekima yao wenyewe. badala yake, mungu amependa kuwaokoa wale wanaoamini kwa njia ya kile ambacho wenye hekima wanakiona kuwa ni upumbavu, yaani ujumbe tunaohubiri.
for after that in the wisdom of god the world by wisdom knew not god, it pleased god by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
