and as for the tribe of the thamud we guided them but they preferred blindness to the guidance , wherefore the bolt of the torment of abjection laid hold of them because of that which they had been earning .
और रहे समूद तो हमने उनको सीधा रास्ता दिखाया , मगर उन लोगों ने हिदायत के मुक़ाबले में गुमराही को पसन्द किया तो उन की करतूतों की बदौलत ज़िल्लत के अज़ाब की बिजली ने उनको ले डाला

unto those who have done good is the good and an increase : neither darkness nor abjection will cover their faces . these are the fellows of the garden : therein they will be abiders .
जिन लोगों ने दुनिया में भलाई की उनके लिए भलाई है और कुछ बढ़कर और न उनके चेहरों पर कालिक लगी हुई होगी और न उन्हें ज़िल्लत होगी यही लोग जन्नती हैं कि उसमें हमेशा रहा सहा करेंगे

and recall what time ye said : o musa ! we shall by no means bear patiently with one food , wherefore supplicate for us unto thy lord that he bring forth for us of that which the earth groweth , of its vegetables , and its cucumbers , and its wheat , and its lentils , and its onions . he said : would ye take in exchange that which is mean for that which is better ! get ye down into a city , as verily therein is for you that which ye ask for . and stuck upon them were abjection and poverty . and they drew on themselves indignation from allah . this , because they were ever disbelieving in the signs of allah and slaying the prophets without justice . this , because they disobeyed and were ever trespassing .
जब तुमने मूसा से कहा कि ऐ मूसा हमसे एक ही खाने पर न रहा जाएगा तो आप हमारे लिए अपने परवरदिगार से दुआ कीजिए कि जो चीज़े ज़मीन से उगती है जैसे साग पात तरकारी और ककड़ी और गेहूँ या और मसूर और प्याज़ की जगह पैदा करें कहा क्या तुम ऐसी चीज़ को जो हर तरह से बेहतर है अदना चीज़ से बदलन चाहते हो तो किसी शहर में उतर पड़ो फिर तुम्हारे लिए जो तुमने माँगा है सब मौजूद है और उन पर रूसवाई और मोहताजी की मार पड़ी और उन लोगों ने क़हरे खुदा की तरफ पलटा खाया , ये सब इस सबब से हुआ कि वह लोग खुदा की निशानियों से इन्कार करते थे और पैग़म्बरों को नाहक शहीद करते थे , और इस वजह से कि वह नाफ़रमानी और सरकशी किया करते थे
