to moses we had given guidance and to the children of israel we had given the book
நிச்சயமாக மூஸாவுக்கு நேர்வழி (காட்டும் வேதத்தை) நாம் அளித்தோம் - அன்றியும் இஸ்ராயீலின் சந்ததியினரை வேதத்திற்கு வாரிசாக்கினோம்.

so, hold fast to the book that has been revealed to you, you are surely on the right path,
(நபியே!) உமக்கு வஹீ அறிவிக்கப்பட்டதை பலமாகப் பற்றிப் பிடித்துக் கொள்ளும்; நிச்சயமாக நீர் நேரான பாதையின் மீதே இருக்கின்றீர்.

it is he who has sent to the illiterate a messenger from among their own people to recite to them his revelations and purify them. he will teach the book to them
அவன்தான், எழுத்தறிவில்லா மக்களிடம் அவனுடைய வசனங்களை ஓதிக்காட்டி, அவர்களைப் பரிசுத்தமாக்கி, அவர்களுக்கு வேதத்தையும், ஞானத்தையும் கற்பிக்கும் படியான தூதரை அவர்களிலிருந்தே அனுப்பி வைத்தான், அவர்களோ, அதற்கு முன்னர் பகிரங்கமான வழிகேட்டிலேயே இருந்தனர்.

as for those who hold fast to the book and are steadfast in prayer, we do not waste the wage of the righteous.
எவர்கள் வேதத்தை உறுதியாகப் பற்றிப்பிடித்துக் கொண்டு, தொழுகையையும் நிலைநிறுத்துகிறார்களோ (அத்தகைய) நல்லோர்களின் கூலியை நாம் நிச்சயமாக வீணாக்க மாட்டோம்.

that is the book, wherein is no doubt, a guidance to the godfearing
இது, (அல்லாஹ்வின்) திரு வேதமாகும்;, இதில் எத்தகைய சந்தேகமும் இல்லை, பயபக்தியுடையோருக்கு (இது) நேர்வழிகாட்டியாகும்.

are they jealous of the favors that god has done to some people? we have given to the family of abraham the book, wisdom, and a great kingdom.
அல்லாஹ் தன் அருளினால் மனிதர்களுக்கு வழங்கியவற்றின்மீது இவர்கள் பொறாமை கொள்கின்றார்களா? இன்னும் நாம் நிச்சயமாக இப்றாஹீமின் சந்ததியினருக்கு வேதத்தையும், ஞானத்தையும் கொடுத்தோம்;. அத்துடன் மாபெரும் அரசாங்கத்தையும் அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுத்தோம்.

and indeed we gave moosa the guidance, and bequeathed the book to the descendants of israel.
நிச்சயமாக மூஸாவுக்கு நேர்வழி (காட்டும் வேதத்தை) நாம் அளித்தோம் - அன்றியும் இஸ்ராயீலின் சந்ததியினரை வேதத்திற்கு வாரிசாக்கினோம்.

(we said:) "o john, hold fast to the book;" and we gave him wisdom right from boyhood,
(அதன் பின்னர்) "யஹ்யாவே! நீர் இவ்வேதத்தைப் பலமாகப் பற்றிப் பிடித்துக் கொள்ளும்" (எனக் கூறினோம்) இன்னும் அவர் குழந்தையாக இருக்கும் போதே அவருக்கு நாம் ஞானத்தை அளித்தோம்.

and certainly we gave the book and the wisdom and the prophecy to the children of israel, and we gave them of the goodly things, and we made them excel the nations.
நிச்சயமாக நாம், இஸ்ராயீலின் சந்ததியினருக்கு வேதத்தையும், அதிகாரத்தையும், நுபுவ்வத்தையும் கொடுத்தோம்; அவர்களுக்கு மணமான உணவு (வசதி)களையும் கொடுத்தோம் - அன்றியும் அகிலத்தாரில் அவர்களை மேன்மையாக்கினோம்.

(we said): 'o john, hold fast to the book', and we bestowed on him judgment while yet a child
(அதன் பின்னர்) "யஹ்யாவே! நீர் இவ்வேதத்தைப் பலமாகப் பற்றிப் பிடித்துக் கொள்ளும்" (எனக் கூறினோம்) இன்னும் அவர் குழந்தையாக இருக்கும் போதே அவருக்கு நாம் ஞானத்தை அளித்தோம்.

indeed, my protector is allah, who has sent down the book; and he is an ally to the righteous.
"நிச்சயமாக என் பாதுகாவலன் அல்லாஹ்வே. அவனே வேதத்தை இறக்கி வைத்தான். அவனே நல்லடியார்களைப் பாதுகாப்பவன் ஆவான்.

and said, "our people, we have listened to the recitation of a book revealed after moses. it confirms the books revealed before and guides to the truth and the right path.
(ஜின்கள்) கூறினார்கள்; "எங்களுடைய சமூகத்தார்களே! நிச்சயமாக நாங்கள் ஒரு வேதத்தைச் செவிமடுத்தோம், அது மூஸாவுக்குப் பின்னர் இறக்கப்பட்டிருக்கின்றது, அது தனக்கு முன்னுள்ள வேதங்களை உண்மை படுத்துகிறது. அது உண்மையின் பக்கமும், நேரான மார்க்கத்தின் பாலும் (யாவருக்கும்) 'வழி' காட்டுகின்றது.

(muhammad), consider those who have received a share of the book. when they refer to the book in order to judge amongst themselves, a group of them turn away with disregard
வேதத்தில் ஒரு பாகம் கொடுக்கப்பட்டவர்(களான யூதர்)களை நீர் கவனிக்கவில்லையா? அவர்களிடையே (ஏற்பட்ட விவகாரத்தைப் பற்றி) அல்லாஹ்வின் வேதத்தைக் கொண்டு தீர்ப்பளிக்க அவர்கள் அழைக்கப்பட்டார்கள்; ஆனால் அவர்களில் ஒரு பிரிவார் (இதைப்) புறக்கணித்து விலகிக் கொண்டனர்.

a section of the people of the book say: "believe in the morning what has been revealed to the faithful, and deny in the evening; they might perhaps turn back;
வேதத்தையுடையோரில் ஒரு சாரார் (தம் இனத்தாரிடம்); "ஈமான் கொண்டோர் மீது இறக்கப்பட்ட (வேதத்)தைக் காலையில் நம்பி, மாலையில் நிராகரித்து விடுங்கள்;. இதனால் (ஈமான் கொண்டுள்ள) அவர்களும் ஒரு வேளை (அதை விட்டுத்) திரும்பி விடக்கூடும்" என்று கூறுகின்றனர்.

(muhammad), we have given you the book (the quran) in your own language so that you could easily give the glad news to the pious ones and warn the quarrelsome ones.
(நபியே!) நாம் இ(வ் வேதத்)தை உம்முடைய மொழியில் (அருளி) எளிதாக்கியதெல்லாம், இதைக் கொண்டு நீர் - பயபக்தியுடையவர்களுக்கு நன்மாராயங் கூறவும், முரண்டாக வாதம் செய்யும் மக்களுக்கு இதைக் கொண்டு அச்சமூட்டி எச்சரிக்கை செய்வதற்குமேயாகும்.

(muhammad), tell the people, whoever is an enemy to gabriel who has delivered the book to your heart as a guide and as joyful news to the believers,
யார் ஜிப்ரீலுக்கு விரோதியாக இருக்கின்றானோ (அவன் அல்லாஹ்வுக்கும் விரோதி யாவான்) என்று (நபியே!) நீர் கூறும்; நிச்சயமாக அவர்தாம் அல்லாஹ்வின் கட்டளைக்கிணங்கி உம் இதயத்தில் (குர்ஆனை) இறக்கி வைக்கிறார்; அது, தனக்கு முன்னிருந்த வேதங்கள் உண்மை என உறுதிப்படுத்துகிறது. இன்னும் அது வழிகாட்டியாகவும், நம்பிக்கை கொண்டோருக்கு நன்மாராயமாகவும் இருக்கிறது.
