we already seized them with the chastisement, yet they abased not themselves to their lord nor were they humble;
திடனாக நாம் அவர்களை வேதனையைக் கொண்டு பிடித்திருக்கிறோம்; ஆனால், அவர்கள் தங்கள் இறைவனுக்குப் பணியவுமில்லை தாழ்ந்து பிரார்; த்திக்கவுமில்லை.

and on the day when the hour riseth the guilty will vow that they did tarry but an hour - thus were they ever deceived.
அன்றியும், (நியாயத் தீர்ப்புக்குரிய) நாழிகை வரும் அந்நாளில் குற்றவாளிகள் தாங்கள் (இவ்வுலகில்) ஒரு நாழிகையே அன்றி (அதிக நேரம்) தங்கி இருக்க வில்லை என்று பிரமாணம் செய்வார்கள்; இவ்வாறு (இவ்வுலகிலும் உண்மையிலிருந்து) அவர்கள் திருப்பப்படுபவர்களாக இருந்தனர்.

and we did not make the prophets forms not eating food, nor were they immortal [on earth].
அன்றியும் நாம் அவர்களுக்கு உணவு அருந்தாத உடலை அமைக்கவில்லை மேலும், (பூமியில்) நிரந்தரமானவர்களாகவும் அவர்களிருக்கவில்லை.

and neither heaven nor earth shed a tear over them: nor were they given a respite (again).
ஆகவே, அவர்களுக்காக வானமும் பூமியும் அழவுமில்லை (தப்பித்துக் கொள்ள) அவகாசமும் கொடுக்கப்பட்டவர்களாகவும் அவர்களில்லை.

and what would befall them were they to believe in allah and the last day and expend out of that wherewith allah hath provided them? and of them allah is ever the knower.
இவர்கள் அல்லாஹ்வையும், இறுதி நாளையும் நம்பி இவர்களுக்கு அல்லாஹ் வழங்கியவற்றிலிருந்து செலவும் செய்வார்களானால். இவர்களுக்கு என்ன கேடு ஏற்பட்டுவிடப் போகிறது? அல்லாஹ் இவர்களை நன்கறிபவனாகவே இருக்கின்றான்.
