དེ་ནི་དུས་དང་པོར་བྱ་བའོ།། །།

i must approach him and ask, ‘monk, who is your teacher?
བདག་དེའི་གན་དུ་སོང་སྟེ། དགེ་སློང་ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་སྟོན་པ་ནི་གང་ཡིན།

and they asked him, “retired devotee, who is your preceptor?”
དེ་དག་གིས་དེ་ལ་སྨྲས་པ། རྒན་ཞུགས་ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་མཁན་པོ་གང་ཡིན།

that is counted as tantamount to stealing, no matter how much he has stolen,
རྐུ་བའི་གྲངས་སུ་གཏོགས་པ་བླངས་ན། ཇི་ཙམ་མ་བྱིན་པར་བླངས་པས་དེ་

and that is how, i thought, this whole huge mass of suffering comes to be.
དེ་ལྟར་ན་སྡུག་བསྔལ་གྱི་ཕུང་པོ་ཆེན་པོ་འབའ་ཞིག་པ་འདི་འབྱུང་བར་འགྱུར་རོ་སྙམ་མོ། །

that is why we experience the unique pleasures and pains of each of the six realms.”
འདི་ལྟར་འགྲོ་བ་དྲུག་པོ་དག་ཏུ་བདེ་བ་དང་སྡུག་བསྔལ་སོ་སོར་མྱོང་བར་འགྱུར་རོ། །

the whole of Śrāvastī is your field and fatherland, so seek out alms and live on them.”
