biopsy sent as ascending colon and growth from the rectum show similar features. section shows multiple fragments of colonic mucosa with extensive areas of ulceration along with acute and chronic inflammatory exudate and granulation tissue. lamina propria shows moderate lymphoplasmacytic infiltrate with neutrophils and few eosinophils. focal areas shows well formed confluent granuloma comprising of epithelioid histiocytes surrounded by cuff of mature lymphocytes. no evidence of caseous necrosis. there is focal evidence of cryptitis and mucin depletion. no evidence of dysplasia/malignancy ziehl-neelsen stain for acid-fast bacilli–negative
