Յակոբը համբուրեց Ռաքէլին ու բարձրաձայն լաց եղաւ:
and jacob kissed rachel, and lifted up his voice, and wept.

Յակոբը Երդման ջրհորի մօտից ելաւ գնաց Խառան:
and jacob went out from beer-sheba, and went toward haran.

Եւ Յակոբը վերցրեց մի քար եւ կանգնեցրեց որպէս կոթող:
and jacob took a stone, and set it up for a pillar.

Երրորդ օրը ասորի Լաբանին յայտնեցին, որ Յակոբը գնացել է:
and it was told laban on the third day that jacob was fled.

Յակոբը մնաց միայնակ: Մի մարդ նրա հետ մարտնչեց մինչեւ առաւօտ:
and jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

Լաբանն այն կոչեց Վկայութեան կարկառ, իսկ Յակոբը կոչեց Վկայ կարկառ:
and laban called it jegar-sahadutha: but jacob called it galeed.

Եւ նա իր աղախին Բալլային տուեց նրան կնութեան: Յակոբը մտաւ նրա ծոցը:
and she gave him bilhah her handmaid to wife: and jacob went in unto her.

Եսաւը հմուտ որսորդ էր եւ վայրենաբարոյ, իսկ Յակոբը մեղմաբարոյ էր ու տնակեաց:
and the boys grew: and esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents.

Աբրահամը ծնեց Իսահակին. Իսահակը՝ Յակոբին. Յակոբը ծնեց Յուդային եւ նրա եղբայրներին.
abraham begat isaac; and isaac begat jacob; and jacob begat judas and his brethren;

Յակոբը Եգիպտացիների երկրում ապրեց տասնեօթը տարի, եւ նա դարձաւ հարիւր քառասունեօթը տարեկան:
and jacob lived in the land of egypt seventeen years: so the whole age of jacob was an hundred forty and seven years.

իսկ Յակոբը շեղեց իր աներոջ Լաբանի ուշադրութիւնը, որովհետեւ չէր ուզում յայտնել նրան, որ պիտի գնայ:

Յակոբը մտաւ Ռաքէլի ծոցը եւ Ռաքէլին սիրեց աւելի, քան Լիային: Նա սրա համար ծառայեց եւս եօթը տարի:
and he went in also unto rachel, and he loved also rachel more than leah, and served with him yet seven other years.

Այսպիսով Յակոբը չափազանց շատ հարստացաւ. նա ունեցաւ շատ ոչխարներ ու արջառներ, ծառաներ ու աղախիններ, ուղտեր ու էշեր:
and the man increased exceedingly, and had much cattle, and maidservants, and menservants, and camels, and asses.

Երբ գալիս էր մաքիների զուգաւորուելով յղիանալու ժամանակը, Յակոբը գաւազանները դնում էր մաքիների դիմաց, գուռերի մէջ, որպէսզի նրանք բեղմնաւորուեն գաւազանների մօտ,
and it came to pass, whensoever the stronger cattle did conceive, that jacob laid the rods before the eyes of the cattle in the gutters, that they might conceive among the rods.

Երբ Յակոբը տեսաւ իր մօրեղբայր Լաբանի դուստր Ռաքէլին եւ իր մօրեղբայր Լաբանի ոչխարները, մօտեցաւ, ջրհորի բերանից գլորեց քարը եւ ջրեց իր մօրեղբայր Լաբանի ոչխարները:
and it came to pass, when jacob saw rachel the daughter of laban his mother's brother, and the sheep of laban his mother's brother, that jacob went near, and rolled the stone from the well's mouth, and watered the flock of laban his mother's brother.

Մատթանը ծնեց Յակոբին. Յակոբը ծնեց Յովսէփին՝ Մարիամի մարդուն, որի նշանածն էր կոյս Մարիամը, որից ծնուեց Յիսուս, որ անուանուեց Քրիստոս:
and jacob begat joseph the husband of mary, of whom was born jesus, who is called christ.

Յակոբի ականջին հասան Լաբանի որդիների ասածները, թէ՝ «Յակոբը տէր դարձաւ մեր հօր ողջ ունեցուածքին, մեր հօր ունեցուածքի շնորհիւ նա դիզեց մեծ հարստութիւն»:
and he heard the words of laban's sons, saying, jacob hath taken away all that was our father's; and of that which was our father's hath he gotten all this glory.

«Այսպէս կ՚ասէք իմ տէր Եսաւին, թէ այսպէս է ասում քո ծառայ Յակոբը. «Լաբանի մօտ ապրեցի եւ մինչեւ հիմա այնտեղ մնացի:
and he commanded them, saying, thus shall ye speak unto my lord esau; thy servant jacob saith thus, i have sojourned with laban, and stayed there until now:

«Այդպէս կ՚անես, որպէսզի քեզ հաւատան, որ քեզ երեւացել է նրանց հայրերի Աստուածը՝ Աբրահամի Աստուածը, Իսահակի Աստուածը եւ Յակոբի Աստուածը»:
that they may believe that the lord god of their fathers, the god of abraham, the god of isaac, and the god of jacob, hath appeared unto thee.
