dear transportbilar team, as of today we have counted over 2.100 sales on caddy cargo. this is a great achievement and it shows the strength of our product as well as your dedication in the dealerships for this model. in other words, you have done a superb job on this model and all the efforts seems to pay off. one effort from our side was the tough negotiation with the factory to achieve a competitive pricing in which we succeeded. yet, knowing that caddy 5 cargo is by far the most crucial vehicle we had to single out the caddy 5 passenger car not to jeopardize the caddy 5 cargo pricing. we firmly believe this was the right decision and it is proven by the sales numbers. ever since we tried to place the caddy 5 passenger car at the factory for price adjustments as we felt, with the given price proposal we are not able to fully exploit the potential of such a great vehicle. we deliberately refrained from launching this model so far and set us and the factory a deadline until this week. unfortunately, and as you can see in the systems as of today, we have not succeeded in a way as we did for caddy 5 cargo. we only got marginal success in our negotiations. therefore, we have decided on the following steps: • open the orders systems as of today • accept the price preposition as given by the factory • for specific large customers we will of course try our best in getting better pricing. however this will have to be handled case by case together with our kam-organization. • we will also adjust sams during next week, in order to be able to have different discount levels on caddy passenger car versus caddy cargo. i am fully aware, this is not the outcome you and we have looked forward to. it will make it for you as a sales team more challenging. nevertheless, the caddy 5 is very strong product with a lot of features which are state of the art, in particular safety features to reach the 5 star ncap. this should be a very strong sales argument for the swedish market and we see that the caddy5 sells in other markets very well, despite the higher price positioning and lower customer expectations on safety features. having said this, i also want to use the opportunity to give you the factory view on such a decision. i think this is worthwhile to know and to get the bigger picture. just today the yearly financial numbers were published. vw lcv has posted a loss of 4,6 bn sek. this is substantial. one major factor was for sure covid-19. yet, the other reasons is that the brand vw lcv is in the midst of the biggest product investment ever with t7, amarok nf and id.buzz cargo and family being launched within the next 2,5 years. in total 10bn sek of investment into new products. from this point view, i thinks we shall all agree, if this is our contribution, it is better to invest in the products to come, it will be our future. so let’s swallow the bad news about the pricing, let’s move forward together and continue this successful start of the year and let’s make the best out of the caddy 5 passenger car. last but not least, i wish you very successful days in the lead up to march 31st. best regards helmut
