but when the great disaster cometh,
Чун он ҳодисаи бузург даррасад,

so when the greatest universal disaster arrives,
Чун он ҳодисаи бузург даррасад,

and what will make you realize what the crushing disaster is?
Ва ту чӣ донӣ, ки ҳутамаҳ чист?

and we delivered them and their people from the terrible disaster.
Он ду ва мардумашонро аз ранҷе бузург наҷот бахшидем.

nay! he shall most certainly be hurled into the crushing disaster,
На чунин аст! ки Ӯро дар ҳутамаҳ андозанд.

for we sent against them a furious wind, on a day of violent disaster,
Мо бар онҳо дар рӯзе наҳсу тӯлонӣ боде сахт фиристодем,

the tribes of thamud and 'ad denied that disaster would strike them:
Қавми Самуду Од рӯзи қиёматро дурӯғ бароварданд.

they said, ‘o dhul qarnayn! indeed gog and magog are causing disaster in this land.
Гуфтанд: «Эй Зулқарнайн, Яъҷуҷу Маъҷуҷ дар замин фасод мекунанд.

if a lucky chance befall you, it is evil unto them, and if disaster strike you they rejoice thereat.

Бигӯ: «Худост, ки шуморо аз он маҳлака ва аз ҳар андӯҳе мераҳонад, боз ҳам ба Ӯ ширк меоваред».

who, when disaster strikes them, say, "indeed we belong to allah, and indeed to him we will return."
Касоне, ки чун мусибате ба онҳо расид, гуфтанд: «Мо аз они Худо ҳастем ва ба назди Ӯ бозмегардем».

as for those who disbelieve, disaster ceaseth not to strike them because of what they do, or it dwelleth near their home until the threat of allah come to pass. lo!
Ва кофиронро пайваста ба сабаби амалҳояшон ҳодисае расад ё он ҳодиса дар наздикии хонаҳояшон фурӯд ояд, то он гоҳ, ки ваъдаи Худо ояд, зеро Худо хилофи ваъда намекунад!

as for those who disbelieve, because of what they do, disaster will not cease to afflict them, or it alights near their home until the promise of allah comes. allah will not break his promise.
Ва кофиронро пайваста ба сабаби амалҳояшон ҳодисае расад ё он ҳодиса дар наздикии хонаҳояшон фурӯд ояд, то он гоҳ, ки ваъдаи Худо ояд, зеро Худо хилофи ваъда намекунад!

lo! among you there is he who loitereth; and if disaster overtook you, he would say: allah hath been gracious unto me since i was not present with them.
Ва аз миёни шумо касест, ки аз майдони ҷанг худдорӣ мекунад. Ва чун ба шумо балое расад, мегӯяд: «Худо дар хаққи ман чӣ некие кард, ки дар он рӯз ҳамроҳашон набудам».

so we sent against them a furious wind through days of disaster, that we might give them a taste of a penalty of humiliation in this life; but the penalty of a hereafter will be more humiliating still: and they will find no help.
Мо низ боде сахту ғуррон дар рӯзҳое шум бар сарашон фиристодем, то дар дунё азоби хориро ба онҳо бичашонем. Ва азоби охират хоркунандатар аст ва касе ба ёриашон барнахезад!
