በዚያ ዘመን የአራተኛው ክፍል ገዥ ሄሮድስ የኢየሱስን ዝና ሰማ፥
at that time herod the tetrarch heard of the fame of jesus,

በተቀጠረ ቀንም ሄሮድስ ልብሰ መንግሥቱን ለብሶ በዙፋን ተቀመጠ እነርሱንም ተናገራቸው፤
and upon a set day herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.

ከዚህ በኋላ ሄሮድስ ሰብአ ሰገልን በስውር ጠርቶ ኮከቡ የታየበትን ዘመን ከእነርሱ በጥንቃቄ ተረዳ፥
then herod, when he had privily called the wise men, inquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.

ሄሮድስ በወንድሙ በፊልጶስ ሚስት በሄሮድያዳ ምክንያት ዮሐንስን አስይዞ አሳስሮት በወህኒ አኑሮት ነበርና፤
for herod had laid hold on john, and bound him, and put him in prison for herodias' sake, his brother philip's wife.

በዚያን ሰዓት ከፈሪሳውያን አንዳንዱ ቀርበው። ሄሮድስ ሊገድልህ ይወዳልና ከዚህ ውጣና ሂድ አሉት።
the same day there came certain of the pharisees, saying unto him, get thee out, and depart hence: for herod will kill thee.

ከሄሮድስም ግዛት እንደ ሆነ ባወቀ ጊዜ ወደ ሄሮድስ ሰደደው፤ እርሱ ደግሞ በዚያ ጊዜ በኢየሩሳሌም ነበረና።
and as soon as he knew that he belonged unto herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to herod, who himself also was at jerusalem at that time.

ሄሮድስ ዮሐንስ ጻድቅና ቅዱስ ሰው እንደ ሆነ አውቆ ይፈራውና ይጠባበቀው ነበር፤ እርሱንም ሰምቶ በብዙ ነገር ያመነታ ነበር፤
for herod feared john, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.

የአራተኛው ክፍል ገዥ ሄሮድስ ግን፥ ስለ ሄሮድያዳ ስለ ወንድሙ ስለ ፊልጶስ ሚስትና ሄሮድስ ስላደረገው ሌላ ክፋት ሁሉ ዮሐንስ ስለ ገሠጸው፥
but herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for herodias his brother philip's wife, and for all the evils which herod had done,
