ታጋሽ በሆነ ወጣት ልጅም አበሰርነው ፡ ፡

በኢስሐቅም አበሰርነው ፡ ፡ ከመልካሞቹ የሆነ ነቢይ ሲሆን ፡ ፡

when the birth of a girl is announced to any of them , his face darkens and he is filled with gloom .
አንዳቸውም በሴት ልጅ በተበሰረ ጊዜ እርሱ የተቆጨ ኾኖ ፊቱ ጠቁሮ ይውላል ፡ ፡

when any of them is told about the birth of a female his face turns dark , and he is filled with suppressed anger ,
አንዳቸውም በሴት ልጅ በተበሰረ ጊዜ እርሱ የተቆጨ ኾኖ ፊቱ ጠቁሮ ይውላል ፡ ፡

and we gave him the good news of [ the birth of ] isaac , a prophet , one of the righteous .
በኢስሐቅም አበሰርነው ፡ ፡ ከመልካሞቹ የሆነ ነቢይ ሲሆን ፡ ፡

yet when news of the birth of a daughter reaches one of them , his face is darkened , and he is overwhelmed with silent grief ,
አንዳቸውም በሴት ልጅ በተበሰረ ጊዜ እርሱ የተቆጨ ኾኖ ፊቱ ጠቁሮ ይውላል ፡ ፡

and when one of them is informed of [ the birth of ] a female , his face becomes dark , and he suppresses grief .
አንዳቸውም በሴት ልጅ በተበሰረ ጊዜ እርሱ የተቆጨ ኾኖ ፊቱ ጠቁሮ ይውላል ፡ ፡

he began to feel afraid . they said , " do not be afraid , " and then gave him the glad news of the birth of a knowledgeable son .
ከእነርሱ መፍራትንም በልቡ አሳደረ ፡ ፡ « አትፍራ » አሉት ፡ ፡ በዐዋቂ ወጣት ልጅም አበሰሩት ፡ ፡

and his wife , standing by laughed when we gave her good tidings ( of the birth ) of isaac , and , after isaac , of jacob .
ሚስቱም የቆመች ስትኾን ( አትፍራ አሉት ) ሳቀችም ፡ ፡ በኢስሐቅም አበሰርናት ፡ ፡ ከኢስሐቅም በኋላ ( በልጁ ) በያዕቁብ ( አበሰርናት ) ፡ ፡

we answered his prayers with the glad news of the birth of a son by the name of john and told him , " we have never given such a name to anyone else . "
« ዘከሪያ ሆይ ! እኛ በወንድ ልጅ ስሙ የሕያ በኾነ ከዚህ በፊት ሞክሼን ባላደረግንለት እናበስርሃለን » ( አለው ) ፡ ፡

( they believe so although when ) any of them is given tidings of the birth of a female child the like of which he assigns to the merciful one , his countenance darkens and he is choked with grief .
አንዳቸውም ለአልረሕማን ምሳሌ ባደረገው ነገር ( በሴት ልጅ ) በተበሰረ ጊዜ እርሱ በቁጭት የተመላ ኾኖ ፊቱ የጠቆረ ይኾናል ፡ ፡

and abraham 's wife was standing by and on hearing this she laughed . and we gave her the good news of ( the birth of ) isaac , and after isaac , of jacob .
ሚስቱም የቆመች ስትኾን ( አትፍራ አሉት ) ሳቀችም ፡ ፡ በኢስሐቅም አበሰርናት ፡ ፡ ከኢስሐቅም በኋላ ( በልጁ ) በያዕቁብ ( አበሰርናት ) ፡ ፡

and when the news of ( the birth of ) a female ( child ) is brought to any of them , his face becomes dark , and he is filled with inward grief !
አንዳቸውም በሴት ልጅ በተበሰረ ጊዜ እርሱ የተቆጨ ኾኖ ፊቱ ጠቁሮ ይውላል ፡ ፡

when news is brought to one of them of ( the birth of ) what he sets up as a likeness to ( allah ) most gracious , his face darkens , and he is filled with inward grief !
አንዳቸውም ለአልረሕማን ምሳሌ ባደረገው ነገር ( በሴት ልጅ ) በተበሰረ ጊዜ እርሱ በቁጭት የተመላ ኾኖ ፊቱ የጠቆረ ይኾናል ፡ ፡

( he was told ) : " zechariah , we bring you the good news of the birth of a son whose name shall be yahya ( john ) , one whose namesake we never created before . "
« ዘከሪያ ሆይ ! እኛ በወንድ ልጅ ስሙ የሕያ በኾነ ከዚህ በፊት ሞክሼን ባላደረግንለት እናበስርሃለን » ( አለው ) ፡ ፡
