and we do not defer it but for a determinate term .
( ይህንን ቀን ) ለተቆጠረም ጊዜ እንጂ አናቆየውም ፡ ፡

and we do not delay it except for a limited term .
( ይህንን ቀን ) ለተቆጠረም ጊዜ እንጂ አናቆየውም ፡ ፡

they say : " can we be granted some respite ? "
( በመጣባቸው ጊዜ ) « እኛ የምንቆይ ነን » እስከሚሉም ( አያምኑም ) ፡ ፡

then will they say : " can we be given respite ? "
( በመጣባቸው ጊዜ ) « እኛ የምንቆይ ነን » እስከሚሉም ( አያምኑም ) ፡ ፡

say to those who do not believe : " do what ever ye can : we shall do our part ;
ለእነዚያም ለማያምኑት ባላችሁበት ሁኔታ ላይ ሥሩ ፤ እኛ ሠሪዎች ነንና በላቸው ፡ ፡

again we do certainly know best those who deserve most to be burned therein .
ከዚያም እኛ እነዚያን እነርሱ በእርሷ ለመግባት ተገቢ የኾኑትን እናውቃለን ፡ ፡

can we ignore sending you the quran just because you are a transgressing people ?
ድንበር አላፊዎች ሕዝቦች ለመኾናችሁ ቁርኣኑን ከእናንተ ማገድን እናግዳለን ?

( lord ) , you alone we do worship and from you alone we do seek assistance
አንተን ብቻ እንግገዛለን ፤ አንተንም ብቻ እርዳታን እንለምናለን ፡ ፡

' but we do think that no man or spirit should say aught that untrue against allah .
‹ እኛም ሰዎችና ጋኔኖች በአላህ ላይ ውሸትን ( ቃል ) አይናገሩም ማለትን ጠረጠርን ፡ ፡ ›

and that we know that we cannot escape allah in the earth , nor can we escape him by flight :
‹ እኛም አላህን በምድር ውስጥ ፈጽሞ የማናቅተው ፤ ሸሽተንም ፈጽሞ የማናመልጠው መኾናችንን አረጋገጥን ፡ ፡

and we have become certain that we will never cause failure to allah upon earth , nor can we escape him by flight .
‹ እኛም አላህን በምድር ውስጥ ፈጽሞ የማናቅተው ፤ ሸሽተንም ፈጽሞ የማናመልጠው መኾናችንን አረጋገጥን ፡ ፡

and we have spread out the ( spacious ) earth : how excellently we do spread out !
ምድርንም ዘረጋናት ፡ ፡ ምን ያማርንም ዘርጊዎች ( ነን ! )
