but if ye decide to take one wife in place of another , even if ye had given the latter a whole treasure for dower , take not the least bit of it back : would ye take it by slander and manifest wrong ?

also forbidden are married women , except those who have passed into your hands as prisoners of war . this is a commandment of god to you . all women other than these are lawful to you , provided you seek them with your wealth in honest wedlock , not in fornication . when you consummate your marriage with them , give the dowers due to them . and there is no sin for you in what you do by mutual agreement after the fixing of the dower . god is all knowing and wise .
और शौहरदार औरतें मगर वह औरतें जो तुम्हारे कब्ज़े में आ जाएं हराम नहीं ख़ुदा का तहरीरी हुक्म तुमपर है और उन औरतों के सिवा तुम्हारे लिए जायज़ हैं बशर्ते कि बदकारी व ज़िना नहीं बल्कि तुम इफ्फ़त या पाकदामिनी की ग़रज़ से अपने माल के बदले चाहो हॉ जिन औरतों से तुमने मुताअ किया हो तो उन्हें जो मेहर मुअय्यन किया है दे दो और मेहर के मुक़र्रर होने के बाद अगर आपस में राज़ी हो जाओ तो उसमें तुमपर कुछ गुनाह नहीं है बेशक ख़ुदा वाक़िफ़ और मसलेहतों का पहचानने वाला है
