sebenarnya, rebab bukanlah ekslusif rakyat kelantan sebaliknya ia adalah universal. hal ini berikutan ia mempunyai ciri ciri yang sama dengan er hu, violin dan celo yang termasuk dalam kategori chordophone iaitu alat muzik yang dihasilkan dengan getaran gesekan. tambah pula perkataan rebab itu sendiri berasal dari perkataan arab yang membawa maksud busur. selain di kelantan, rebab juga popular di indonesia dan turki serta afghanistan yang disebut sebagai tempat asal alat muzik universal ini
