اور اگر سچے ہو تو ہم پر آسمان سے ایک ٹکڑا لا کر گراؤ

has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood).
(بالخصوص) انسان کو جمے ہوئے خون کے ایک لوتھڑے سے پیدا کیا۔

"now cause a piece of the sky to fall on us, if thou art truthful!"
اور اگر سچے ہو تو ہم پر آسمان سے ایک ٹکڑا لا کر گراؤ

"so cause a piece of the heaven to fall on us, if you are of the truthful!"
اور اگر سچے ہو تو ہم پر آسمان سے ایک ٹکڑا لا کر گراؤ

and if they were to see a piece of the heaven falling down, they would say: "clouds gathered in heaps!"
اور اگر آسمان سے کوئی ٹکڑا گرتا دیکھیں تو کہیں گے تہ بہ تہ بادل ہے

believers, if an evildoer brings you a piece of news, inquire first, in case you should unwittingly wrong others and then repent of what you have done.
ایمان والو اگر کوئی فاسق کوئی خبر لے کر آئے تو اس کی تحقیق کرو ایسا نہ ہو کہ کسی قوم تک ناواقفیت میں پہنچ جاؤ اور اس کے بعد اپنے اقدام پر شرمندہ ہونا پڑے

believers, when an ungodly person brings to you a piece of news, carefully ascertain its truth, lest you should hurt a people unwittingly and thereafter repent at what you did.
ایمان والو اگر کوئی فاسق کوئی خبر لے کر آئے تو اس کی تحقیق کرو ایسا نہ ہو کہ کسی قوم تک ناواقفیت میں پہنچ جاؤ اور اس کے بعد اپنے اقدام پر شرمندہ ہونا پڑے

we said, ‘strike him with a piece of it:’ thus does allah revive the dead, and he shows you his signs so that you may exercise your reason.
پھر ہم نے حکم دیا کہ اس (مُردہ) پر اس (گائے) کا ایک ٹکڑا مارو، اسی طرح اللہ مُردوں کو زندہ فرماتا ہے (یا قیامت کے دن مُردوں کو زندہ کرے گا) اور تمہیں اپنی نشانیاں دکھاتا ہے تاکہ تم عقل و شعور سے کام لو،

we said: 'strike him with a piece of it' like this, allah restores the dead to life and shows you his signs in order that you will understand.
پھر ہم نے کہا اس مردہ پر اس گائے کا ایک ٹکڑا مارو اسی طرح الله مردوں کو زندہ کرے گا اور تمہیں اپنی قدرت کی نشانیاں دکھاتا ہے تاکہ تم سمجھو

were they to see a piece of the sky falling (on them), they would (only) say: "clouds gathered in heaps!"
اور اگر آسمان سے کوئی ٹکڑا گرتا دیکھیں تو کہیں گے تہ بہ تہ بادل ہے

there is not a sum, large or small, that they spend, not a piece of land that they traverse (in the service of god) which is not put down in their favour, so that god could reward them for what they had done.
اسی طرح وہ راہِ خدا میں کوئی تھوڑا یا بہت مال خرچ نہیں کرتے اور نہ کوئی وادی (میدان) طئے کرتے ہیں مگر یہ کہ ان کے لئے لکھ لیا جاتا ہے تاکہ خدا ان کی کار گزاریوں کا اچھے سے اچھا بدلہ دے۔

see they not what is before them and behind them, of the sky and the earth? if we wished, we could cause the earth to swallow them up, or cause a piece of the sky to fall upon them. verily in this is a sign for every devotee that turns to allah (in repentance).
تو کیا انہوں نے نہ دیکھا جو ان کے آگے اور پیچھے ہے آسمان اور زمین ہم چاہیں تو انہیں زمین میں دھنسادیں یا ان پر آسمان کا ٹکڑا گرادیں، بیشک اس میں نشانی ہے ہر رجوع لانے والے بندے کے لیے

and there came a caravan of travellers and they sent their water-drawer to draw water from the well. he let down his bucket into the well and he exclaimed, "oh, what a lucky find, here is a boy!" they hid him like a piece of merchandise, but god knew well what they did.
(اب خدا کی شان دیکھو کہ اس کنویں کے قریب) ایک قافلہ آوارد ہوا اور انہوں نے (پانی کے لیے) اپنا سقا بھیجا۔ اس نے کنویں میں ڈول لٹکایا (تو یوسف اس سے لٹک گئے) وہ بولا زہے قسمت یہ تو (نہایت حسین) لڑکا ہے۔ اور اس کو قیمتی سرمایہ سمجھ کر چھپا لیا اور جو کچھ وہ کرتے تھے خدا کو سب معلوم تھا

there came a caravan, and they sent their water-drawer, who let down his bucket. ‘good news!’ he said. ‘this is a young boy!’ so they hid him as [a piece of] merchandise, and allah knew best what they were doing.
(اب خدا کی شان دیکھو کہ اس کنویں کے قریب) ایک قافلہ آوارد ہوا اور انہوں نے (پانی کے لیے) اپنا سقا بھیجا۔ اس نے کنویں میں ڈول لٹکایا (تو یوسف اس سے لٹک گئے) وہ بولا زہے قسمت یہ تو (نہایت حسین) لڑکا ہے۔ اور اس کو قیمتی سرمایہ سمجھ کر چھپا لیا اور جو کچھ وہ کرتے تھے خدا کو سب معلوم تھا
