வேதத்தையுடையோரே! சத்தியத்தை அசத்தியத்துடன் ஏன் நீங்கள் கலக்குகிறீர்கள்? இன்னும் நீங்கள் அறிந்து கொண்டே ஏன் உண்மையை மறைக்கிறீர்கள்?

o followers of the book! why do you confound the truth with the falsehood and hide the truth while you know?
வேதத்தையுடையோரே! சத்தியத்தை அசத்தியத்துடன் ஏன் நீங்கள் கலக்குகிறீர்கள்? இன்னும் நீங்கள் அறிந்து கொண்டே ஏன் உண்மையை மறைக்கிறீர்கள்?

o people of the book! wherefore confound ye the truth with falsehood, and hide the truths while ye know?
வேதத்தையுடையோரே! சத்தியத்தை அசத்தியத்துடன் ஏன் நீங்கள் கலக்குகிறீர்கள்? இன்னும் நீங்கள் அறிந்து கொண்டே ஏன் உண்மையை மறைக்கிறீர்கள்?

indeed, it will come upon them suddenly and confound them; and they will not be able to ward it off, nor shall they be reprieved.
அவ்வாறல்ல! அது அவர்களிடம் திடீரென வந்து, அவர்களைத் தட்டழியச் செய்து விடும். அதைத் தடுத்துக் கொள்ள அவர்களால் இயலாது அவர்களுக்குச் சிறிதும் அவகாசம் கொடுக்கப்பட மாட்டாது.

it is those who believe and confound not their belief with wrong doing. these! theirs is the security and they are the guided.
எவர் ஈமான் கொண்டு அதன் பின்னர் தம்முடைய ஈமானை (இணை வைத்தல் என்னும்) அநீதியைக் கொண்டு களங்கப்படுத்தவில்லையோ, அவர்களுக்கே அபயமுண்டு; இன்னும் அவர்களே நேர்வழியைப் பெற்றுக் கொண்டவர்கள்.

travel freely in the land four months, and know that ye cannot escape allah and that allah will confound the disbelievers (in his guidance).
நீங்கள் நான்கு மாதங்கள் (வரையில்) இப் பூமியில் சுற்றித் திரியுங்கள்; நிச்சயமாக நீங்கள் அல்லாஹ்வைத் தோற்கடிக்க முடியாதவர்கள் என்பதையும், நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ் காஃபிர்களை இழிவு படுத்துவான் என்பதையும் நீங்கள் (உறுதியாக) அறிந்து கொள்ளுங்கள்.

had we made him an angel, we would have surely made him a man, and we would have surely confounded them just as they confound [the truth now].
நம் தூதரை ஒரு மலக்காகவே அனுப்புவதாயினும் (அவர்கள் மலக்கை காணுஞ் சக்தியில்லாதவர்கள்; ஆதலால்) அவரையும் நாம் மனித உருவத்திலேயே ஆக்கி(அனுப்பி)யிருப்போம், (அப்பொழுதும்,) அந்த இடத்தில் அவர்கள் (இப்பொழுது) குழம்பிக் கொள்வது போல் (அப்பொழுதும்) நாம் குழப்பத்தை ஏற்படுத்தியிருப்போம்.

besides allah? they shall say: they are gone away from us, nay, we used not to call upon anything before. thus does allah confound the unbelievers.
"அல்லாஹ்வையன்றி" (நீங்கள் இணைவைத்துக் கொண்டிருந்தவை எங்கே என்று கேட்கப்படும்); "அவை எங்களை விட்டும் மறைந்து விட்டன அன்றியும் முன்னர் நாங்கள் (அல்லாஹ்வைத் தவிர எதையும்) அழைத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கவில்லையே!" என்று கூறுவார்கள். இவ்வாறுதான் காஃபிர்களை அல்லாஹ் வழி கெடச் செய்கிறான்.

nay, it may come to them all of a sudden and confound them: no power will they have then to avert it, nor will they (then) get respite.
அவ்வாறல்ல! அது அவர்களிடம் திடீரென வந்து, அவர்களைத் தட்டழியச் செய்து விடும். அதைத் தடுத்துக் கொள்ள அவர்களால் இயலாது அவர்களுக்குச் சிறிதும் அவகாசம் கொடுக்கப்பட மாட்டாது.

whatsoever palm-trees ye cut down or left standing on their roots, it was by allah's leave, in order that he might confound the evil-livers.
நீங்கள் (அவர்களுடைய) பேரீத்த மரங்களை வெட்டியதோ, அல்லது அவற்றின் வேர்களின் மீது அவை நிற்கும்படியாக விட்டு விட்டதோ அல்லாஹ்வின் அனுமதியாலும், அந்த ஃபாஸிக்குகளை(ப் பாவிகளை) அவன் இழிவு படுத்துவதற்காவுமே தான்.

and even so their associate-gods have made fair seeming unto many of the associaters the slaying of their offspring, so that they may cause them to perish and that they may confound unto them their religion. and had allah so willed, they would not have done it. wherefore let thou alone them and that which they fabricate.
இவ்வாறே இணை வைப்போரில் பெரும்பாலோருக்கு, அவர்களுடைய குழந்தைகளையே கொலை செய்வதை அவர்களுடைய தெய்வங்கள் அழகாக்கி வைத்துள்ளன. அவர்களை நாசப்படுத்தி, அவர்களுடைய மார்க்கத்தையும் குழப்பத்திலாக்கிவிட்டன. அல்லாஹ் நாடியிருந்தால் அவர்கள் அப்படிச் செய்திருக்க மாட்டார்கள். எனவே (நபியே!) நீர் அவர்களையும், அவர்களுடைய பொய்யான கூற்றுக்களையும் விட்டு விலகி விடுவீராக.
