(அவர்) கூறினார்; "என் இறைவனே! நிச்சயமாக என் எலும்புகள் பலஹீனமடைந்து விட்டன என் தலையும் நரையால் (வெண்மையாய்) இலங்குகிறது. என் இறைவனே! (இதுவரையில்) நான் உன்னிடம் செய்த பிரார்த்தனையில் பாக்கியம் இல்லாதவனாகப் போய்விடவில்லை.

saying: my lord! lo! the bones of me wax feeble and my head is shining with grey hair, and i have never been unblest in prayer to thee, my lord.
(அவர்) கூறினார்; "என் இறைவனே! நிச்சயமாக என் எலும்புகள் பலஹீனமடைந்து விட்டன என் தலையும் நரையால் (வெண்மையாய்) இலங்குகிறது. என் இறைவனே! (இதுவரையில்) நான் உன்னிடம் செய்த பிரார்த்தனையில் பாக்கியம் இல்லாதவனாகப் போய்விடவில்லை.

"this (say i), in order that he may know that i have never been false to him in his absence, and that allah will never guide the snare of the false ones.
இ(வ் விசாரணையை நான் விரும்பிய)தன் காரணம்; "நிச்சயமாக அவர் (என் எஜமானர்) இல்லாத போது அவருக்கு நான் துரொகம் செய்யவில்லை என்பதை அவர் அறிந்து கொள்வதுடன், நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ் துரொகிகளின் சதியை நடைபெற விடுவதில்லை என்பதை அறிவிப்பதற்காகவுமேயாகும்.

he submitted, “o my lord – my bones have become weak and old age shines forth from my head, and o my lord, i have never been disappointed in my prayer to you.”
(அவர்) கூறினார்; "என் இறைவனே! நிச்சயமாக என் எலும்புகள் பலஹீனமடைந்து விட்டன என் தலையும் நரையால் (வெண்மையாய்) இலங்குகிறது. என் இறைவனே! (இதுவரையில்) நான் உன்னிடம் செய்த பிரார்த்தனையில் பாக்கியம் இல்லாதவனாகப் போய்விடவில்லை.

saying: "my lord! indeed my bones have grown feeble, and grey hair has spread on my head, and i have never been unblest in my invocation to you, o my lord!
(அவர்) கூறினார்; "என் இறைவனே! நிச்சயமாக என் எலும்புகள் பலஹீனமடைந்து விட்டன என் தலையும் நரையால் (வெண்மையாய்) இலங்குகிறது. என் இறைவனே! (இதுவரையில்) நான் உன்னிடம் செய்த பிரார்த்தனையில் பாக்கியம் இல்லாதவனாகப் போய்விடவில்லை.

and when she had given birth to the child, she said: "o lord, i have delivered but a girl." -- but god knew better what she had delivered: a boy could not be as that girl was. "i have named her mary," (she said), "and i give her into your keeping. preserve her and her children from satan the ostracized."
(பின், தான் எதிர்பார்த்ததற்கு மாறாக) அவள் ஒரு பெண் குழந்தையைப் பெற்றதும்; "என் இறைவனே! நான் ஒரு பெண்ணையே பெற்றிருக்கின்றேன்" எனக் கூறியதையும் நினைவு கூறுங்கள்;. அவள் பெற்றெடுத்ததை அல்லாஹ் நன்கறிவான்;. ஆண், பெண்ணைப் போலல்ல. (மேலும் அந்தத்தாய் சொன்னாள்;) "அவளுக்கு மர்யம் என்று பெயரிட்டுள்ளேன்;. இன்னும் அவளையும், அவள் சந்ததியையும் விரட்டப்பட்ட ஷைத்தானி(ன் தீங்குகளி)லிருந்து காப்பாற்றத் திடமாக உன்னிடம் காவல் தேடுகின்றேன்.
