and by the witness and that whereunto he beareth testimony,
மேலும், சாட்சிகள் மீதும், சாட்சி சொல்லப்படுவதன் மீதும் சத்தியமாக,

and the bearer of witness and those against whom the witness is borne.
மேலும், சாட்சிகள் மீதும், சாட்சி சொல்லப்படுவதன் மீதும் சத்தியமாக,

o followers of the book! why do you disbelieve in the communications of allah while you witness (them)?
வேதத்தையுடையவர்களே! நீங்கள் தெரிந்து கொண்டே அல்லாஹ்வின் வசனங்களை ஏன் நிராகரிக்கின்றீர்கள்?

then the sects have differed among themselves; so woe to those who disbelieve in the witness of a day mighty!
ஆனாலும், அவர்களிடையே இருந்த கூட்டத்தார் இது பற்றி(த் தங்களுக்குள்ளே) அபிப்பிராய பேதங் கொண்டனர். (சத்தியத்தை) நிராகரித்துக் கொண்டிருப்பவர்களுக்கு, அவர்கள் யாவரும் ஒன்று சேர்க்கப்படும் வலுப்பமான நாளில் கேடுதான்!

and the one to whom belongs the heavens and the earth. god is the witness of all things.
வானங்கள், பூமியின் ஆட்சி அவனுக்கே உரியது, எனவே அல்லாஹ் அனைத்துப் பொருள்கள் மீதும் சாட்சியாக இருக்கிறான்.

o people of the scripture, why do you disbelieve in the verses of allah while you witness [to their truth]?
வேதத்தையுடையவர்களே! நீங்கள் தெரிந்து கொண்டே அல்லாஹ்வின் வசனங்களை ஏன் நிராகரிக்கின்றீர்கள்?

to whom belongs the kingdom of the heavens and earth. and allah is the witness of all things.
வானங்கள், பூமியின் ஆட்சி அவனுக்கே உரியது, எனவே அல்லாஹ் அனைத்துப் பொருள்கள் மீதும் சாட்சியாக இருக்கிறான்.

had it not been for the grace of allah and his mercy unto you in the world and the hereafter an awful doom had overtaken you for that whereof ye murmured.
இன்னும், உங்கள் மீது இம்மையிலும், மறுமையிலும் அல்லாஹ்வின் அருளும், அவனுடைய ரஹ்மத்தும் இல்லாதிருந்தால், நீங்கள் இச் சர்ச்சையில் ஈடுபட்டிருந்தமைக்காக கடினமான வேதனை நிச்சயமாக உங்களைத் தீண்டியிருக்கும்.

and by the witness (muhammad) and that which is witnessed (the day of judgment),
மேலும், சாட்சிகள் மீதும், சாட்சி சொல்லப்படுவதன் மீதும் சத்தியமாக,

had it not been for the grace of allah and his mercy unto you in this world and in the hereafter, a great torment would have touched you for that whereof you had spoken.
இன்னும், உங்கள் மீது இம்மையிலும், மறுமையிலும் அல்லாஹ்வின் அருளும், அவனுடைய ரஹ்மத்தும் இல்லாதிருந்தால், நீங்கள் இச் சர்ச்சையில் ஈடுபட்டிருந்தமைக்காக கடினமான வேதனை நிச்சயமாக உங்களைத் தீண்டியிருக்கும்.

say: 'people of the book, why do you disbelieve in the signs of god? surely god is witness of the things you do.'
"வேதத்தையுடையோரே! அல்லாஹ்வின் ஆயத்கள் (என்னும் அத்தாட்சிகளையும், வசனங்களையும்) ஏன் நிராகரிக்கின்றீர்கள்? அல்லாஹ்வே நீங்கள் செய்யும் (அனைத்துச்) செயல்களையும் நோட்டமிட்டுப் பார்ப்பவனாக இருக்கிறானே!" என்று (நபியே!) நீர் கூறுவீராக.

and among men is one whose conversation may please you in the life of this world, and he brings allah as witness to what is in his heart, whereas he is the biggest quarreller!
(நபியே!) மனிதர்களில் ஒருவ(கையின)ன் இருக்கிறான்; உலக வாழ்க்கை பற்றிய அவன் பேச்சு உம்மை ஆச்சரியத்தில் ஆழ்த்தும்; தன் இருதயத்தில் உள்ளது பற்றி(சத்தியஞ் செய்து) அல்லாஹ்வையே சாட்சியாகக் கூறுவான். (உண்மையில்) அ(த்தகைய)வன் தான் (உம்முடைய) கொடிய பகைவனாவான்.

and also a lesson for you in the fruits of the date-palms and the grapes whereof ye take a liquor and a provision goodly; verily therein is a sign far a people who understand.
பேரீச்சை, திராட்சை பழங்களிலிருந்து மதுவையும், நல்ல ஆகாரங்களையும் நீங்கள் உண்டாக்குகிறீர்கள்; நிச்சயமாக இதிலும் சிந்திக்கும் மக்களுக்கு ஓர் அத்தாட்சி இருக்கிறது.

and it is in order that the; hearts of those who believe not in the hereafter might incline thereto, and that they might be pleased therewith, and that they might do that whereof they are the doers.
(ஷைத்தான்களின் அலங்காரமான பேச்சை) மறுமையை நம்பாதவர்களின் உள்ளங்கள் செவிமடுப்பதற்காகவும் அதை திருப்தி கொள்வதற்காகவும் அவர்கள் செய்து வந்ததையே தொடர்ந்து செய்வதற்காகவும் (இவ்வாறு ஷைத்தான்கள் மயக்கினர்).

but allah bears witness for that which he has sent down to you. he has sent it down with his knowledge, and the angels bear witness, it is sufficient that allah is the witness.
(நபியே!) உமக்குத் (தான்) அருளிய (வேதத்)தைக் குறித்து, அல்லாஹ்வே சாட்சி சொல்கிறான்;. அதைத் தன் பேரருள் ஞானத்தைக் கொண்டு அவன் இறக்கி வைத்தான்; மலக்குகளும் (இதற்கு) சாட்சி சொல்கிறார்கள்;. மேலும் சாட்சியங் கூறுவதற்கு அல்லாஹ் போதுமானவன்.

and remember what time he made you successors after 'ad and inherited you in earth; ye take for yourselves palaces in the plains whereof and ye hew out the mountains as houses. remember ye wherefore the benefits of allah and commit not evil on the earth as corrupters.
இன்னும் நினைவு கூறுங்கள்; 'ஆது' கூட்டத்தாருக்குப் பின் உங்களைப் பூமியில் பின் தோன்றல்களாக்கி வைத்தான்; பூமியில் உங்களை வசிக்கச் செய்தான். அதன் சமவெளிகளில் நீங்கள் மாளிகைகளைக் கட்டியும், மலைகளைக் குடைந்து வீடகளை அமைத்தும் கொள்கிறீர்கள்; ஆகவே நீங்கள் அல்லாஹ்வின் இந்த அருட்கொடைகளை நினைவு கூறுங்கள். பூமியில் குழப்பம் செய்பவர்களாகக் கெட்டு அலையாதீர்கள்" (என்றும கூறினார்).

and said the chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people and belied the meeting of the hereafter and whom we had luxuriated in the life of the world: this is no other than a human being like unto you: he eateth of that whereof ye eat, and he drinketh of that which ye drink.
ஆனால், அவருடைய சமூகத்தாரில் காஃபிர்களாய் இருந்த தலைவர்களும் இன்னும் இறுதி தீர்ப்பு நாளை சந்திப்பதைப் பொய்ப்படுத்த முற்பட்டார்களே அவர்களும், நாம் அவர்களுக்கு இவ்வுலக வாழ்க்கையில் விசாலமான (சகானுபவங்களைக்) கொடுத்திருந்தோமே அவர்களும், (தம் சமூகத்தாரிடம்) "இவர் உங்களைப் போன்ற ஒரு மனிதரேயன்றி வேறில்லை நீங்கள் உண்பதையே அவரும் உண்கிறார்; நீங்கள் குடிப்பதையே அவரும் குடிக்கிறார்.
