வேதத்தையுடையோரே! சத்தியத்தை அசத்தியத்துடன் ஏன் நீங்கள் கலக்குகிறீர்கள்? இன்னும் நீங்கள் அறிந்து கொண்டே ஏன் உண்மையை மறைக்கிறீர்கள்?

o followers of the book! why do you confound the truth with the falsehood and hide the truth while you know?
வேதத்தையுடையோரே! சத்தியத்தை அசத்தியத்துடன் ஏன் நீங்கள் கலக்குகிறீர்கள்? இன்னும் நீங்கள் அறிந்து கொண்டே ஏன் உண்மையை மறைக்கிறீர்கள்?

and collect (wealth) and hide it (from spending it in the cause of allah).
அன்றியும், பொருளைச் சேகரித்து, பிறகு (அதைத் தக்கபடி செலவு செய்யாமல்) காத்துக் கொண்டானே (அவனையும் அது அழைக்கும்)

those who are miserly and enjoin miserliness on other men and hide what allah has bestowed upon them of his bounties. and we have prepared for the disbelievers a disgraceful torment.
அத்தகையோர் உலோபத்தனம் செய்வதுடன், (பிற) மனிதர்களையும் உலோபித்தனம் செய்யும்படித் தூண்டி அல்லாஹ் தன் அருட்கொடையினின்று அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுத்ததை மறைத்துக்கொள்கிறார்கள்;. அத்தகைய நன்றி கெட்டவர்களுக்கு இழிவான தண்டனையை நாம் சித்தப்படுத்தி வைத்துள்ளோம்.

those who are niggardly and bid people to be niggardly and hide what allah has given them out of his grace; and we have prepared for the unbelievers a disgraceful chastisement.
அத்தகையோர் உலோபத்தனம் செய்வதுடன், (பிற) மனிதர்களையும் உலோபித்தனம் செய்யும்படித் தூண்டி அல்லாஹ் தன் அருட்கொடையினின்று அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுத்ததை மறைத்துக்கொள்கிறார்கள்;. அத்தகைய நன்றி கெட்டவர்களுக்கு இழிவான தண்டனையை நாம் சித்தப்படுத்தி வைத்துள்ளோம்.

if they could find a refuge or some caves or any place to enter [and hide], they would turn to it while they run heedlessly.
ஓர் ஒதுங்கும் இடத்தையோ, அல்லது குகைகளையோ, அல்லது ஒரு சுரங்கத்தையோ அவர்கள் காண்பார்களாயின் (உம்மை விட்டு) அதன் பக்கம் விரைந்து ஓடிவிடுவார்கள்.

those who are niggardly and command mankind to niggardliness and hide that which allah hath vouchsafed unto them of his grace; and we, have gotten ready for the infidels a torment ignominous;
அத்தகையோர் உலோபத்தனம் செய்வதுடன், (பிற) மனிதர்களையும் உலோபித்தனம் செய்யும்படித் தூண்டி அல்லாஹ் தன் அருட்கொடையினின்று அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுத்ததை மறைத்துக்கொள்கிறார்கள்;. அத்தகைய நன்றி கெட்டவர்களுக்கு இழிவான தண்டனையை நாம் சித்தப்படுத்தி வைத்துள்ளோம்.

and he gave you much of what you seek; and if you enumerate the favours of allah, you will never be able to count them; indeed man is very unjust, most ungrateful.
(இவையன்றி) நீங்கள் அவனிடம் கேட்ட யாவற்றிலிருந்தும் அவன் உங்களுக்குக் கொடுத்தான்; அல்லாஹ்வின் அருட்கொடைகளை நீங்கள் கணிப்பீர்களாயின் அவற்றை நீங்கள் எண்ணி முடியாது! நிச்சயமாக மனிதன் மிக்க அநியாயக்காரனாகவும், மிக்க நன்றி கெட்டவனாகவும் இருக்கின்றான்.

எதைக் கொண்டு நன்மாராயங் கூறப்பட்டானோ, (அதைத் தீயதாகக் கருதி) அந்தக் கெடுதிக்காக(த் தம்) சமூகத்தாரை விட்டும் ஒளிந்து கொள்கிறான் - அதை இழிவோடு வைத்துக் கொள்வதா? அல்லது அதை (உயிரோடு) மண்ணில் புதைத்து விடுவதா? (என்று குழம்புகிறான்) அவர்கள் (இவ்வாறெல்லாம்) தீர்மானிப்பது மிகவும் கெட்டதல்லவா?
