then will they say: "can we be given respite?"

they said: no harm; surely to our lord we go back;
พวกเขากล่าวว่า ไม่เป็นไรหรอกแท้จริงเรานั้นต้องเป็นผู้กลับไปยังพระเจ้าของเรา

can we ignore sending you the quran just because you are a transgressing people?
ดังนั้นจะให้เราหันเหข้อตักเตือนนี้จากพวกเจ้าเสียทีเดียว เพราะพวกเจ้าเป็นหมู่ชนผู้ฝ่าฝืนกระนั้นหรือ

say to the infidels. "act as best you can, we are acting too;
จงกล่าวเถิดมุฮัมมัดแก่บรรดาผู้ไม่ศรัทธาว่า “พวกท่านจงกระทำตามแนวทางพวกท่าน แท้จริงเราก็กระทำเช่นกัน”

and we know that we cannot escape from allah in the earth, nor can we escape by flight.
และแท้จริงเราคาดคิดว่า เราจะไม่รอดพ้นจาก (การลงโทษ) ของอัลลอฮฺในแผ่นดินนี้ และเราจะหนีไม่รอดพ้นไปจากพระองค์

and that we know that we cannot escape allah in the earth, nor can we escape him by flight:
และแท้จริงเราคาดคิดว่า เราจะไม่รอดพ้นจาก (การลงโทษ) ของอัลลอฮฺในแผ่นดินนี้ และเราจะหนีไม่รอดพ้นไปจากพระองค์

and we have become certain that we will never cause failure to allah upon earth, nor can we escape him by flight.
และแท้จริงเราคาดคิดว่า เราจะไม่รอดพ้นจาก (การลงโทษ) ของอัลลอฮฺในแผ่นดินนี้ และเราจะหนีไม่รอดพ้นไปจากพระองค์

and he said, which way shall we go up? and he answered, the way through the wilderness of edom.
แล้วท่านว่า "เราจะขึ้นไปทางใด" เยโฮรัมทรงตอบไปว่า "ไปทางถิ่นทุรกันดารเมืองเอโดม

'but we think that we can by no means frustrate allah throughout the earth, nor can we frustrate him by flight.
และแท้จริงเราคาดคิดว่า เราจะไม่รอดพ้นจาก (การลงโทษ) ของอัลลอฮฺในแผ่นดินนี้ และเราจะหนีไม่รอดพ้นไปจากพระองค์

but she pointed to the babe. they said: "how can we talk to one who is a child in the cradle?"
นางชี้ไปทางเขา พวกเขากล่าวว่า “เราจะพูดกับผู้ที่อยู่ในเปลที่เป็นเด็กได้อย่างไร?”

thereupon she pointed towards the child; they said, “how can we speak to an infant who is in the cradle?”
นางชี้ไปทางเขา พวกเขากล่าวว่า “เราจะพูดกับผู้ที่อยู่ในเปลที่เป็นเด็กได้อย่างไร?”

can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book?
เมื่อเราตายไปแล้ว และเราได้กลายเป็นดินผงและกระดูก เราจะถูกตอบแทนจริงหรือ? “

"what cause can we have not to believe in allah and the truth which has come to us, seeing that we long for our lord to admit us to the company of the righteous?"
และไม่มีเหตุผลใด ๆ แก่เราที่เราจะไม่ศรัทธาต่ออัลลอฮ์ และความจริงที่มายังเรา และเราปรารถนาอย่างแรงกล้าที่พระเจ้าของเราจะทรงให้เราเข้าร่วมอยู่กับพวกที่ดี ๆ ทั้งหลาย
