མིག་སྔའི་ཤོག་བྱང་གཡས་ཕྱོགས་སུ་སྤོར་བ

“venerables, i shall remain right here.”
དེས་སྨྲས་པ། ཚེ་དང་ལྡན་པ་དག་འདི་ཉིད་དུ་འདུག་པར་བྱའོ། །

it is the right time and the mother is ovulating;
མ་དུས་ལ་བབ་ཅིང་ཟླ་མཚན་དང་ལྡན་པ་དང་།

and if the time is right and the saṅgha can allow it,
གལ་ཏེ་དགེ་འདུན་གྱི་དུས་ལ་བབ་ཅིང་བཟོད་ན་དགེ་འདུན་གྱིས་གནང་བར་མཛོད་ཅིག་དང་།

this pleased the king, who straightened up, extended his right arm,
དེ་ནས་རྒྱལ་པོ་ཡིད་དགའ་ཞིང་ཡིད་དགའ་ནས་རོ་སྟོད་བསྲང་སྟེ། ལག་པ་གཡས་པ་བརྐྱང་ནས་

they inquire when the time is right, not when the time has passed.
དུས་སུ་རྨེད་པ། དུས་ལས་ཡོལ་བར་མི་རྨེད་པ།

when the time and the conditionsare right, they alight upon embodied beings.
རྙེད་ན་ལུས་ཅན་རྣམས་ལ་ནི། །འབྲས་བུ་དག་ཏུ་འགྱུར་བ་ཉིད། །

རྙེད་ན་ལུས་ཅན་རྣམས་ལ་ནི། །འབྲས་བུ་དག་ཏུ་འགྱུར་བ་ཉིད། །

as he walked, he gazed just ahead, he gazed to his left and right,
འགྲོ་བ་དང་། ལྡོག་པ་དང་། ཆུང་ཟད་བལྟ་བ་དང་། རྣམ་པར་བལྟ་བ་དང་།

acting in accord with circumstances, this dharma robe will be right and fit to wear.”
རྐྱེན་ཇི་ལྟ་བ་བཞིན་དུ་བགྱིས་ཏེ། ཆོས་གོས་འདི་རུང་བ་སྤྱད་པར་འོས་པའོ། །

while wondering thus, blessed buddhas look upon them by turning to the right as an elephant would.
སྐུ་ཐམས་ཅད་ཀྱི་གཡས་ནས་གླང་པོ་ཆེའི་ལྟ་སྟངས་ཀྱིས་རྣམ་པར་གཟིགས་པ་མཛད་པ་ཡིན་པས།

and if the time is right and the saṅgha can allow it, i ask that the saṅgha grant their consent.
གལ་ཏེ་དགེ་འདུན་གྱི་དུས་ལ་བབ་ཅིང་བཟོད་ན་དགེ་འདུན་གྱིས་གནང་བར་མཛོད་ཅིག་དང་།

potalaka too was delighted. he sat straight up, raised his right hand, and exclaimed with great joy,
དེ་ཡང་ཡིད་དགའ་ཞིང་ཡིད་དགའ་ནས་རོ་སྟོད་བསྲང་སྟེ་ལག་པ་གཡས་པ་བརྐྱང་ནས་འདི་སྐད་ཅེས་

and as it lies with its head to the right side of my womb, it is sure to be a boy, so pray be happy!
འདི་ལྟར་བདག་གིས་དཀུ་གཡས་པར་རྟེན་ཅིང་མཆིས་པས་ངེས་པར་ཁྱེའུར་འགྱུར་གྱིས་དགྱེས་པ་བསྐྱེད་དུ་གསོལ།

“it’s not right to bring ill repute upon your family, so do not behave like this.”
ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་ཁྱིམ་དུ་མི་སྙན་པ་གྲགས་པར་གྱུར་ན་མི་རུང་གིས་དེ་ལྟ་མ་བྱེད་ཅིག །

placed his begging bowl in the crook of his left arm, and nestled his monk’s staff in the crook of his right arm.
དཔུང་པ་གཡོན་པར་ནི་ལྷུང་བཟེད་ཀྱི་སྣོད་བཞག །དཔུང་པ་གཡས་པར་ནི་ཁར་གསིལ་བཏགས་སོ། །

if the blessed one was about to foretell a reign as a king of the world, the rays of light would fade into the palm of his right hand.
འཁོར་ལོས་སྒྱུར་བའི་རྒྱལ་སྲིད་ལུང་སྟོན་པར་བཞེད་ན་ནི་ཕྱག་མཐིལ་གཡས་པར་ནུབ་པར་འགྱུར།

these monks here are all versed in the three piṭakas, are teachers of dharma in their own right, and possessed of intelligence and untrammeled confidence.
དགེ་སློང་འདི་དག་ནི་སྡེ་སྣོད་གསུམ་དང་ལྡན་པ། ཆོས་སྒྲོགས་པ། རིགས་པ་དང་གྲོལ་བའི་སྤོབས་པ་ཅན་ཤ་སྟག་ཡིན་ན།

it would not be right to disregard your wish, your seeking monkhood, to go forth and be ordained in the well-proclaimed dharma and vinaya.
ཁྱོད་སྔོན་བདག་ལེགས་པར་གསུངས་པའི་ཆོས་འདུལ་བ་ལ་རབ་ཏུ་བྱུང་བ་དང་བསྙེན་པར་རྫོགས་པ་དགེ་སློང་གི་དངོས་པོ་ཐོབ་ཀྱང་ཅི་མ་རུང་སྙམ་དུ་སྨོན་པ་

“actions never waste away, not even after one hundred eons. when the time and the conditions are right, they alight upon embodied beings.
ལས་རྣམས་བསྐལ་པ་བརྒྱར་ཡང་ནི། །ཆུད་མི་ཟ་བའང་ཚོགས་དང་དུས། །རྙེད་ན་ལུས་ཅན་རྣམས་ལ་ནི། །འབྲས་བུ་དག་ཏུ་འགྱུར་བ་ཉིད། །
