so we said: o adam!

kuma Ãdamu ya sãɓã wa ubangijinsa, sabõda haka ya ɓace.
adam disobeyed his lord, and went amiss.

"ashe, ban yi muku umurni na alkawari ba, yã ɗiyan Ãdamu?
children of adam, did we not command you not to worship satan.

kuma a lõkacin da muka ce wa malãiku, "ku yi sujada ga Ãdamu."
and (remember) when we said to the angels; "prostrate to adam." so they prostrated except iblis (satan).

kuma sa'ad da muka ce wa malã'iku, "ku yi sujada ga Ãdamu."
and (remember) when we said to the angels: "prostrate yourselves to adam."

kuma lalle, haƙĩƙa, mun yi alkawari zuwa ga Ãdamu a gabãnin wannan, sai ya manta, kuma ba mu sãmi ƙarfin zũciya a gare shiba.
and assuredly we covenanted with adam aforetime, then he forgat, and we found not in him steadiness.

sai suka ci daga gare ta, sabõda haka al'aurunsu suka bayyana, kuma suka shiga sunã lulluɓãwa a kansu daga ganyen aljanna. kuma Ãdamu ya sãɓã wa ubangijinsa, sabõda haka ya ɓace.
so they both ate from it – thereupon their shame became manifest to them, and they started applying on themselves the leaves of heaven; and adam lapsed in obeying his lord, so did not reach his goal. (of achieving immortality)

"ashe, ban yi muku umurni na alkawari ba, yã ɗiyan Ãdamu? cẽwa kada ku bauta wa shaiɗan, lalle shĩ, maƙiyi ne a gareku bayyananne?"
children of adam, did i not command you not to serve satan -- he is to you an open enemy

sai muka ce: "ya Ãdamu! lalle ne wannan maƙiyi ne gare ka da kuma ga mãtarka, sabõda haka kada ya fitar da ku daga aljanna har ku wahala."
so we said, "o adam, indeed this is an enemy to you and to your wife. then let him not remove you from paradise so you would suffer.
