il parco si sviluppa su un’area di circa 1000 ettari in cui scorre il torrente molgora: dai colli di carnate, usmate e velate fino alla pianura di vimercate, burago molgora, agrate, caponago e carugate. l'ambiente, condizionato da corsi di acqua, è costituito da aree boschive, campi coltivati alternati a prati incolti, oltre ad alcune zone umide in cui è presente la tipica vegetazione palustre, caratterizzata dalla presenza della cannuccia di palude (phragmites australis) e della mazza sorda (thypha latifolia).
