al rato me metí a ver mamachas del ring (fotos, arriba del todo y aquí, inconfundibles), documental de betty m.park acerca de unas cholitas bolivianas que pelean por ser reconocidas como luchadoras de catch. la película también es buenísima y muy recomendable: testimonio de lo difícil que lo tienen las mujeres para hacer lo que quieren, la obra de park muestra las idas y vueltas de carmen rosa “la campeona” con ternura y sensibilidad femeninas, un hallazgo que divierte y conmueve a la vez. a mí me gustó porque tiene una historia que contar, la muestra sin demagogia ni altivez y no ofrece respuestas de ninguna clase, sino el doloroso peso de una pregunta que la sociedad boliviana (y no sólo boliviana) es la verdadera encargada de asumir.
i went to see mamachas del ring, a documentary by betty m. park about bolivian cholitas that fight to be recognized as wrestlers. the film is excellent and highly recommended: showing how hard it is for women to do what they want, park's work shows the twists and turns of carmen rosa " the champion" with tenderness and feminine sensibility, a discovery that is fun and moving at the same time. i liked it because it has a story to tell, without condescension or pride, and though it provides no answers of any kind, it shows the weight of a painful question that bolivian society (and not only in bolivia) is responsible for answering.
