Իսկ քահանայապետներն ու օրէնսգէտները հնար էին փնտռում, թէ ինչպէս սպանեն նրան, բայց վախենում էին ժողովրդից:

Դարձեալ Երուսաղէմ եկան. եւ մինչ նա այնտեղ, տաճարում շրջում էր, նրա մօտ եկան քահանայապետները, օրէնսգէտները եւ ծերերը
and they come again to jerusalem: and as he was walking in the temple, there come to him the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders,

Եւ նա ամէն օր նրանց ուսուցանում էր տաճարում, իսկ քահանայապետները, օրէնսգէտները եւ ժողովրդի գլխաւորները հնար էին փնտռում նրան կորստեան մատնելու,
and he taught daily in the temple. but the chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy him,

Եւ այն օրերից մէկում, մինչ տաճարում ուսուցանում էր ժողովրդին եւ աւետարանում, վրայ հասան քահանայապետներն ու օրէնսգէտները՝ ծերերով հանդերձ,
and it came to pass, that on one of those days, as he taught the people in the temple, and preached the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes came upon him with the elders,

Մինչ Յիսուս ուսուցանում էր տաճարում, հարց տուեց ժողովրդին ու ասաց. «Ինչպէ՞ս են ասում օրէնսգէտները, թէ Քրիստոս Դաւթի Որդի է,
and jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, how say the scribes that christ is the son of david?

Քահանայապետներն ու օրէնսգէտները լսեցին այս եւ մի միջոց էին փնտռում, թէ ինչպէս կորստեան մատնեն նրան, բայց վախենում էին նրանից, որովհետեւ ամբողջ ժողովուրդը զարմացած էր նրա ուսուցման վրայ:
and the scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, because all the people was astonished at his doctrine.

Ահա ինչու փարիսեցիները եւ օրէնսգէտները հարց տուեցին նրան. «Ինչո՞ւ քո աշակերտները նախնիների աւանդութեան համաձայն չեն շարժւում, այլ անմաքուր ձեռքերով են հաց ուտում»:
then the pharisees and scribes asked him, why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands?

Երբ քահանայապետներն ու օրէնսգէտները տեսան այն սքանչելիքները, որ նա արեց, եւ մանուկներին, որ տաճարի մէջ աղաղակում էին ու ասում՝ օրհնութի՜ւն Դաւթի Որդուն, բարկացան.
and when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, hosanna to the son of david; they were sore displeased,

«Ահա ելնում ենք Երուսաղէմ. եւ մարդու Որդին պիտի մատնուի քահանայապետներին ու օրէնսգէտներին, եւ նրան մահուան պիտի դատապարտեն ու հեթանոսներին պիտի յանձնեն.
saying, behold, we go up to jerusalem; and the son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the gentiles:
