and fight against the disbelievers collectively as they fight against you collectively. and know that allah is with the righteous [who fear him].

vi ćete sigurno biti iskušavani u imecima vašim, i životima vašim, i slušaćete doista mnoge uvrede od onih kojima je data knjiga prije vas, a i od mnogobožaca.
(believers!) you will certainly be put to test in respect of your properties and lives, and you will certainly hear many hurtful things from those who were granted the book before you and those who have associated others with allah in his divinity.

ako te neki od mnogobožaca zamoli za zaštitu, ti ga zaštiti da bi saslušao allahove riječi, a potom ga otpremi na mjesto pouzdano za njega. to zato što oni pripadaju narodu koji ne zna.
and if any of the idolaters seeks of thee protection, grant him protection till he hears the words of god; then do thou convey him to his place of security -- that, because they are a people who do not know.

u njima ne griješite! a borite se protiv svih mnogobožaca, kao što se oni svi bore protiv vas; i znajte da je allah na strani onih koji se allaha boje i grijeha klone.
so wrong not yourselves therein, and fight the pagans all together as they fight you all together. but know that allah is with those who restrain themselves.

vi ćete sigurno biti iskušavani u imecima vašim, i životima vašim, i slušaćete doista mnoge uvrede od onih kojima je data knjiga prije vas, a i od mnogobožaca. i ako budete izdržali i allaha se bojali pa tako trebaju postupiti oni koji su jakom voljom obdareni.
you shall certainly be tried and tested in your wealth and properties and in your personal selves, and you shall certainly hear much that will grieve you from those who received the scripture before you (jews and christians) and from those who ascribe partners to allah, but if you persevere patiently, and become al-muttaqun (the pious - see v. 2:2) then verily, that will be a determining factor in all affairs, and that is from the great matters, [which you must hold on with all your efforts].

a kada im knjiga od allaha dolazi, koja priznaje kao istinitu knjigu koju imaju oni – a još ranije su pomoć protiv mnogobožaca molili – i kada im dolazi ono što im je poznato, oni u to neće da vjeruju, i neka zato stigne nevjernike allahovo prokletstvo!
and how are they behaving now towards a book which has come to them from allah? inspite of the fact that it confirms the scriptures which they already possessed. and, inspite of the fact that, before it came, they used to pray for a signal victory over the disbelievers, they rejected it when it came, although they recognized it.
