the following activities are examples of situations that may raise questions regarding an apparent or real conflict of interest: a) undue personal gain from hki funds or resources (includes non-financial resources); b) excessive or unauthorized use of hki time or resources for professional, charitable or community activities; c) exploitation of subordinates for private gain; d) compromise of hki priorities due to personal financial considerations; e) unfair access by an outside party to hki programs, services, information or technology; f) selection of an entity as an hki employee or vendor (including ngo) by an individual who has a personal or economic interest in that entity; this includes engaging a relative as an employee or vendor; g) engaging in outside employment h) having an ownership, investment interest, or compensation arrangement with any entity (including a sub-grantee or ngo partners) participating in hki program activities; i) not disclosing an existing relationship that may be perceived as being a real or apparent influence on an employee’s objectivity in carrying out an official role; and j) accepting favors or gratuities from those doing business with hki.
