flee, save your lives, and be like the heath in the wilderness.

seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

sabbatum requietionis est adfligetis animas vestras die nono mensis a vespero usque ad vesperum celebrabitis sabbata vestr
it shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath.

haec dicit dominus custodite animas vestras et nolite portare pondera in die sabbati nec inferatis per portas hierusale
thus saith the lord; take heed to yourselves, and bear no burden on the sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of jerusalem;

custodite igitur sollicite animas vestras non vidistis aliquam similitudinem in die qua locutus est dominus vobis in horeb de medio igni
take ye therefore good heed unto yourselves; for ye saw no manner of similitude on the day that the lord spake unto you in horeb out of the midst of the fire:

decima quoque dies mensis huius septimi erit vobis sancta atque venerabilis et adfligetis animas vestras omne opus servile non facietis in e
and ye shall have on the tenth day of this seventh month an holy convocation; and ye shall afflict your souls: ye shall not do any work therein:

eritque hoc vobis legitimum sempiternum mense septimo decima die mensis adfligetis animas vestras nullumque facietis opus sive indigena sive advena qui peregrinatur inter vo
and this shall be a statute for ever unto you: that in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger that sojourneth among you:

quia decepistis animas vestras vos enim misistis me ad dominum deum nostrum dicentes ora pro nobis ad dominum deum nostrum et iuxta omnia quaecumque dixerit tibi dominus deus noster sic adnuntia nobis et faciemu
for ye dissembled in your hearts, when ye sent me unto the lord your god, saying, pray for us unto the lord our god; and according unto all that the lord our god shall say, so declare unto us, and we will do it.

et nunc haec dicit dominus exercituum deus israhel quare vos facitis malum grande contra animas vestras ut intereat ex vobis vir et mulier parvulus et lactans de medio iudae nec relinquatur vobis quicquam residuu
therefore now this saith the lord, the god of hosts, the god of israel; wherefore commit ye this great evil against your souls, to cut off from you man and woman, child and suckling, out of judah, to leave you none to remain;
