the court has twice upheld disqualification of a list by the central election committee: first, in 1965, prior to the enactment of substantive standards for disqualification, the court upheld the disqualification of the "socialist list " based upon a finding that the party's platform aimed to "undermine the existence of the state " (e.a. 1/65, yardor v. central elections committee of the sixth knesset, 19(3) p.d. 365). later, following enactment of section 7 a of basic law: knesset above, the court upheld the disqualification of the kach party, led by the late rabbi meir kahane, for negating the democratic character of the state and incitement to racism (e.a. 1/88, neimann v. central elections committee of the twelfth knesset, 42(4) p.d. 177).
