நிச்சயமாக நிராகரிப்பவர்கள், அல்லாஹ்வின் பாதையை விட்டும் தடுப்பதற்காக தங்கள் செல்வங்களை செலவு செய்கின்றனர்; (இவ்வாறே அவர்கள் தொடர்ந்து) அவற்றை செலவு செய்து கொண்டிருப்பார்கள் - முடிவில் (அது) அவர்களுக்கே துக்கமாக அமைந்துவிடும்; பின்னர் அவர்கள் வெற்றி கொள்ளப்படுவார்கள்; (இறுதியில்) நிராகரிப்பவர்கள் நரகத்தில் ஒன்று சேர்க்கப்படுவார்கள்.

and when saul marched out with his army, he said: 'allah will test you with a river. he who drinks from it shall cease to be one of mine but he who does not drink from it, except he who scoops up once with his hand, shall be of mine' but for a few of them, they all drank from it. and when he had crossed it with those who believed, they said: 'we have no power this day against goliath and his soldiers' but those of them who reckoned they would meet allah replied: 'many a small band has, by the permission of allah, vanquished a mighty army. allah is with the patient'
பின்னர், தாலூத் படைகளுடன் புறப்பட்ட போது அவர்; "நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ் உங்களை (வழியில்) ஓர் ஆற்றைக் கொண்டு சோதிப்பான்; யார் அதிலிருந்து (நீர்) அருந்துகின்றாரோ அவர் என்னைச் சேர்ந்தவரல்லர்; தவிர, ஒரு சிறங்கைத் தண்ணீர் தவிர யார் அதில் நின்றும் (அதிகமாக) நீர் அருந்தவில்லையோ நிச்சயமாக அவர் என்னைச் சார்ந்தவர்" என்று கூறினார்; அவர்களில் ஒரு சிலரைத் தவிர (பெரும்பாலோர்) அதிலிருந்து (அதிகமாக நீர்) அருந்தினார்கள்;. பின்னர் தாலூத்தும், அவருடன் ஈமான் கொண்டோரும் ஆற்றைக் கடந்ததும், (ஒரு சிறங்கைக்கும் அதிகமாக நீர் அருந்தியோர்) "ஜாலூத்துடனும், அவன் படைகளுடனும் இன்று போர் செய்வதற்கு எங்களுக்கு வலுவில்லை" என்று கூறிவிட்டனர்; ஆனால், நாம் நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ்வைச் சந்திப்போம் என்று உறுதி கொண்டிருந்தோர், "எத்தனையோ சிறு கூட்டத்தார்கள், பெருங் கூட்டத்தாரை அல்லாஹ்வின் (அருள் மிக்க) அனுமதி கொண்டு வென்றிருக்கின்றார்கள்;. மேலும் அல்லாஹ் பொறுமையாளர்களுடன் இருக்கின்றான்" என்று கூறினார்கள்.
