Ժողովուրդները լսեցին լուրն այս ու բարկացան: Սարսափը պատեց Քանանացիների երկրի բնակիչներին:

and he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.
կործանեց այդ քաղաքներն ու դրանց ամբողջ շրջակայքը, ոչնչացրեց քաղաքների բոլոր բնակիչներին ու երկրի ամբողջ բուսականութիւնը:

take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither thou goest, lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee:
Զգո՛յշ եղիր, ուխտ չկապես այն երկրի բնակիչների հետ, ուր մուտք ես գործելու: Չլինի թէ գայթակղուէք:

then the dukes of edom shall be amazed; the mighty men of moab, trembling shall take hold upon them; all the inhabitants of canaan shall melt away.
Խուճապահար եղան Եդոմի դատաւորներն ու մովաբացիների իշխանները: Դող բռնեց նրանց, հալումաշ եղան Քանանացիների երկրի բոլոր բնակիչները:

lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a whoring after their gods , and do sacrifice unto their gods, and one call thee, and thou eat of his sacrifice;
Չլինի թէ ձեր մարդիկ ուխտ կապեն այդ երկրի բնակիչների հետ եւ նրանց աստուածներին պաշտամունք մատուցելով՝ պոռնկանան, զոհեր մատուցեն նրանց աստուածներին, եւ նրանց հրաւէրն ընդունելով՝ չլինի թէ դու էլ ուտես նրանց զոհաբերած անասունների մսից,

and i will set thy bounds from the red sea even unto the sea of the philistines, and from the desert unto the river: for i will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand; and thou shalt drive them out before thee.
Քո երկրի տարածքը սահմանելու եմ Կարմիր ծովից մինչեւ Փղշտացիների ծովը եւ անապատից մինչեւ Եփրատ մեծ գետը: Ձեր ձեռքը պիտի յանձնեմ այդ երկրի բնակիչներին ու նրանց հեռու պիտի քշեմ քեզնից:

and jacob said to simeon and levi, ye have troubled me to make me to stink among the inhabitants of the land, among the canaanites and the perizzites: and i being few in number, they shall gather themselves together against me, and slay me; and i shall be destroyed, i and my house.
Այն ժամանակ Յակոբն ասաց Շմաւոնին ու Ղեւիին. «Դուք ինձ ատելի դարձրիք: Ես երկրի բոլոր բնակիչներին՝ քանանացիներին ու փերեզացիներին անխիղճ մարդ պիտի թուամ: Մենք սակաւաթիւ ենք: Եթէ նրանք հաւաքուեն, ինձ վրայ յարձակուեն ու հարուածեն ինձ, ապա կ՚ոչնչանամ ե՛ւ ես, ե՛ւ իմ տոհմը»:
