and they ask thee of menstruation.

and they ask you about menstruation.
basi jitengeni na wanawake wakati wa hedhi. wala msiwaingilie mpaka wat'ahirike.

menstruation is not a shameful secret.
hedhi sio siri ya aibu.

they question thee (o muhammad) concerning menstruation.
na wanakuuliza juu ya hedhi. waambie, huo ni uchafu.

this will also be the same for those who do not experience menstruation.
na wenye mimba eda yao mpaka watakapo zaa.

say, "it is harm, so keep away from wives during menstruation.
waambie, huo ni uchafu. basi jitengeni na wanawake wakati wa hedhi.

“why do women hush themselves when it comes to discussing menstruation?”
“kwa nini wanawake hawapendi kuzungumzia hedhi?”

and they ask you about menstruation: say, “it is harmful, so keep away from women during menstruation.
na wanakuuliza juu ya hedhi. waambie, huo ni uchafu.

say thou: it is a pollution, so keep away from women during menstruation, and go not in unto them until they have purified themselves.
waambie, huo ni uchafu. basi jitengeni na wanawake wakati wa hedhi.

and as to such of your women as have despaired of menstruation, if ye be in doubt thereof, their waiting period is three months, as also of those who have not yet menstruated.
na wale walio sita hedhi miongoni mwa wanawake wenu, ikiwa mnayo shaka, basi muda wa eda yao ni miezi mitatu, pamoja na ambao hawapati hedhi.

the waiting period of those of your women who have lost all expectation of menstruation shall be three months in case you entertain any doubt; and the same shall apply to those who have not yet menstruated.
na wale walio sita hedhi miongoni mwa wanawake wenu, ikiwa mnayo shaka, basi muda wa eda yao ni miezi mitatu, pamoja na ambao hawapati hedhi.

and for such of your women as despair of menstruation, if ye doubt, their period (of waiting) shall be three months, along with those who have it not.
na wale walio sita hedhi miongoni mwa wanawake wenu, ikiwa mnayo shaka, basi muda wa eda yao ni miezi mitatu, pamoja na ambao hawapati hedhi.

and those who no longer expect menstruation among your women - if you doubt, then their period is three months, and [also for] those who have not menstruated.
na wale walio sita hedhi miongoni mwa wanawake wenu, ikiwa mnayo shaka, basi muda wa eda yao ni miezi mitatu, pamoja na ambao hawapati hedhi.

and (as for) those of your women who have despaired of menstruation, if you have a doubt, their prescribed time shall be three months, and of those too who have not had their courses; and (as for) the pregnant women, their prescribed time is that they lay down their burden; and whoever is careful of (his duty to) allah he will make easy for him his affair.
na wale walio sita hedhi miongoni mwa wanawake wenu, ikiwa mnayo shaka, basi muda wa eda yao ni miezi mitatu, pamoja na ambao hawapati hedhi. na wenye mimba eda yao mpaka watakapo zaa.
