Эй ҷома бар худ печида,

sleeping little in the night-time,
андаке аз шабро мехобиданд

then a visitation from thy lord visited it, while they were sleeping,
Пас шабҳангом, ки ба хоб буданд, офате аз осмон омад,

then there encompassed it a visitation from your lord while they were sleeping.
Пас шабҳангом, ки ба хоб буданд, офате аз осмон омад,

and of his signs is your sleeping at night and your seeking his bounty during the day.
Ва аз нишонаҳои қудрати Ӯ хобидани шумост дар шаб ва рӯз ба талаби рӯзӣ бархостани шумост.

god will receive their souls when they die. their souls do not die when they are sleeping.
Худо ҷонҳоро ба ҳангоми мурданашон мегирад ва низ ҷони касонеро, ки дар хоби худ намурдаанд.

they will say, "o woe to us! who has raised us up from our sleeping place?"
Мегӯянд: «Вой бар мо, чӣ касе моро аз хобгоҳҳоямон бархезонд?

and how many cities have we destroyed, and our punishment came to them at night or while they were sleeping at noon.
Чӣ бисёр деҳаҳое, ки мардумашро ба ҳалокат расонидем ва азоби мо шабҳангом ё он гоҳ ки ба хоби нимрӯзӣ фурӯ рафта буданд, ба онон даррасид.

and many a township did we destroy – so our punishment came to them at night or while they were sleeping at noon.
Чӣ бисёр деҳаҳое, ки мардумашро ба ҳалокат расонидем ва азоби мо шабҳангом ё он гоҳ ки ба хоби нимрӯзӣ фурӯ рафта буданд, ба онон даррасид.

and of his signs are your sleeping by night and by day, and your seeking of his grace verily herein are signs for a people who hearken.
Ва аз нишонаҳои қудрати Ӯ хобидани шумост дар шаб ва рӯз ба талаби рӯзӣ бархостани шумост. Дар ин ибратҳоест барои мардуме, ки мешунаванд.

and among his signs is your sleeping during the night and day, and your seeking his munificence; indeed in this are signs for people who heed.
Ва аз нишонаҳои қудрати Ӯ хобидани шумост дар шаб ва рӯз ба талаби рӯзӣ бархостани шумост. Дар ин ибратҳоест барои мардуме, ки мешунаванд.

your sleeping during the night and in the day your seeking his favors are evidence (of the truth) for the people who have hearing.
Ва аз нишонаҳои қудрати Ӯ хобидани шумост дар шаб ва рӯз ба талаби рӯзӣ бархостани шумост. Дар ин ибратҳоест барои мардуме, ки мешунаванд.

no sunlight could reach them during their sleep in the cave. one could see the rising sun decline to the right of their cave and the setting sun move its way to the left whilst they were sleeping in an opening of the cave.
Ва хуршедро мебинӣ, ки чун бармеояд, аз ғорашон ба ҷониби рост майл мекунад ва чук ғуруб кунад, онҳоро вогузорад ва ба чап гардад. Ва онон дар саҳнаи ғоранд.

and one of his signs is your sleeping and your seeking of his grace by night and (by) day; most surely there are signs in this for a people who would hear.
Ва аз нишонаҳои қудрати Ӯ хобидани шумост дар шаб ва рӯз ба талаби рӯзӣ бархостани шумост. Дар ин ибратҳоест барои мардуме, ки мешунаванд.

one would think them (the youths) awake while, in fact, they were sleeping. we turned their bodies from right to left and their dog stretched its front legs on the ground.
Мепиндоштӣ, ки бедоранд, ҳол он ки дар хоб буданд ва Мо ононро ба дасти росту дасти чап мегардонидем ва сагашон бар даргоҳи ғор ду дасти худ дароз карда буд.

and a great number of towns (their population) we destroyed (for their crimes). our torment came upon them (suddenly) by night or while they were sleeping for their afternoon rest.
Чӣ бисёр деҳаҳое, ки мардумашро ба ҳалокат расонидем ва азоби мо шабҳангом ё он гоҳ ки ба хоби нимрӯзӣ фурӯ рафта буданд, ба онон даррасид.
