so for one who gave and practised piety
எனவே எவர் (தானதருமம்) கொடுத்து, (தன் இறைவனிடம்) பயபக்தியுடன் நடந்து,

and we saved those who believed and practised righteousness.
மேலும், ஈமான் கொண்டு, (அல்லாஹ்விடம்) பயபக்தியுடையவர்களாக இருந்தவர்களை நாம் காப்பாற்றினோம்.

thus the truth was upheld, and the falsehood that they practised was exposed.
இவ்வாறு உண்மை உறுதியாயிற்று, அவர்கள் செய்த (சூனியங்கள்) யாவும் வீணாகி விட்டன.

yes, why not? whoever fulfilled his pledge and practised piety – and indeed allah loves the pious.
அப்படியல்ல! யார் தம் வாக்குறுதியை நிறைவேற்றுகின்றார்களோ, (அல்லாஹ்வுக்கு) அஞ்சியும் நடக்கின்றார்களோ (அவர்கள் தாம் குற்றம் பிடிக்கப்பட மாட்டார்கள்). நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ் (தனக்கு) அஞ்சி நடப்போரை நேசிக்கின்றான்.

had they believed in allah and practised piety, they would have received a far better reward from aiiah, if they had but known it.
அவர்கள் நம்பிக்கை கொண்டு தங்களை காப்பாற்றிக் கொண்டால், அல்லாஹ்விடமிருந்து கிடைக்கும் நற்கூலி மிகவும் மேலானதாக இருக்கும்;. இதனை அவர்கள் அறிய வேண்டாமா?

for them will be a home of peace in the presence of their lord: he will be their friend, because they practised (righteousness).
அவர்களுக்கு அவர்களுடைய இறைவனிடம் (சாந்தியும்) சமாதானமுமுள்ள வீடு(சுவர்க்கம்) உண்டு - அவர்கள் செய்த (நன்மைகளின்) காரணமாக அவன் அவர்களுடைய உற்ற நேசனாகவும் இருக்கிறான்.

and because they practised usury although it had been forbidden them; and for using others' wealth unjustly. for those who are unbelievers among them we have reserved a painful punishment.
வட்டி வாங்குவது அவர்களுக்குத் தடை செய்யப்பட்டிருந்தும், அவர்கள் அதை வாங்கி வந்ததன் (காரணமாகவும்,) தவறான முறையில் அவர்கள் மக்களின் சொத்துகளை விழுங்கிக் கொண்டிருந்ததன் (காரணமாகவும், இவ்வாறு தண்டனை வழங்கினோம்), இவர்களில் காஃபிரானோருக்கு (மறுமையில்) நோவினை செய்யும் வேதனையையும் நாம் சித்தப்படுத்தியுள்ளோம்.

and to lut, too, we gave judgment and knowledge, and we saved him from the town which practised abominations: truly they were a people given to evil, a rebellious people.
இன்னும், லூத்தையும் (நபியாக்கி) - நாம் அவருக்கு ஞானத்தையும், கல்வியையும் கொடுத்தோம்; அறுவறுப்பான செயல்களைச் செய்து கொண்டிருந்(தவர்களின்) ஊரை விட்டும் அவரை நாம் காப்பாற்றினோம்; நிச்சயமாக அவர்கள் மிகவும் கெட்ட சமூகத்தினராகவும், பெரும் பாவிகளாகவும் இருந்தனர்.

now such were their houses, - in utter ruin, - because they practised wrong-doing. verily in this is a sign for people of knowledge.
ஆகவே, அவர்கள் அநியாயம் செய்து வந்த காரணத்தால் (அதோ அழிந்து போன) அவர்களுடைய வீடுகள் அதோ பாழடைந்து கிடக்கின்றன நிச்சயமாக இதிலே, அறியக் கூடிய சமூகத்தாருக்கு அத்தாட்சி இருக்கிறது.

allah has not instituted things like bahirah (a she-camel whose milk was spared for the idols and nobody was allowed to milk it) or a sa'ibah (a she-camel let loose for free pasture for their false gods, e.g. idols, etc., and nothing was allowed to be carried on it), or a wasilah (a she-camel set free for idols because it has given birth to a she-camel at its first delivery and then again gives birth to a she-camel at its second delivery) or a ham (a stallion-camel freed from work for their idols, after it had finished a number of copulations assigned for it, all these animals were liberated in honour of idols as practised by pagan arabs in the pre-islamic period). but those who disbelieve invent lies against allah, and most of them have no understanding.
பஹீரா (காது கிழிக்கப்பட்ட பெண் ஒட்டகம்), ஸாயிபா (சுயேச்சையாக மேய விடப்படும் பெண் ஒட்டகம்) வஸீலா (இரட்டைக் குட்டிகளை ஈன்றதற்காக சில நிலைகளில் விக்கிரகங்களுக்கு நேர்ந்து விடப்பட்ட ஆடுகள்) ஹாமி (வேலையெதுவும் வாங்கப்படாமல் சுயேச்சையாகத் திரியும்படி விடப்பபடும் ஆண் ஒட்டகம்) என்பவை (போன்ற சடங்குகளை) அல்லாஹ் ஏற்படுத்தவில்லை - ஆனால் காஃபிர்கள்தாம் அல்லாஹ்வின் மீது பொய்யாகக் கற்பனை செய்(து கூறு)கின்றனர். மேலும் அவர்களில் பெரும்பாலோர் நல்லறிவு பெறாதவர்களாகவே இருக்கின்றனர்.
