and if they reject thee, so did their predecessors, to whom came their messengers with clear signs, books of dark prophecies, and the book of enlightenment.

those who oppose god and his messenger will be humiliated, as were their predecessors. we have sent down clear revelations. a humiliating punishment awaits those who deny the truth.

and indeed, for those who have wronged is a portion [of punishment] like the portion of their predecessors, so let them not impatiently urge me.

what are they waiting for except to witness the repetition of the days of calamity that their predecessors witnessed? tell them: 'wait; i too am waiting with you.
