there is naught but our life in this world; we die and we live and we shall not be raised again.
"நமது இவ்வுலக வாழ்க்கையைத் தவிர (நமக்கு) வேறு வாழ்க்கை இல்லை, நாம் இறப்போம்; (இப்போது) நாம் உயிருடன் இருக்கிறோம்; ஆனால், மீண்டும் நாம் (உயிர் கொடுக்கப்பெற்று) எழுப்பப்டப் போகிறவர்கள் அல்ல.

in this world we laid our curse on them, and on the day of resurrection they shall be among the exiled.
இன்னும், இவ்வுலகில் அவர்களைச் சாபம் தொடருமாறு நாம் செய்தோம்; கியாம நாளில் அவர்கள் இகழப்பட்டவர்களாகவே இருப்பார்கள்.

they say, "there is nothing beyond our life in this world: we shall not be raised up again from the dead."
அன்றியும், "இவ்வுலகத்தில் நாம் வாழ்ந்திருப்பதைத் தவிர (அப்பால் மறுமை வாழ்வு என்று) ஒன்றும் இல்லை நாம் (மரணத்திற்குப் பின் மறுபடியும்) எழுப்பப் பட மாட்டோம்" என்றும் அவர்கள் கூறுகின்றனர்.

"there is nothing but our life in this world! we shall die and we live! but we shall never be raised up again!
"நமது இவ்வுலக வாழ்க்கையைத் தவிர (நமக்கு) வேறு வாழ்க்கை இல்லை, நாம் இறப்போம்; (இப்போது) நாம் உயிருடன் இருக்கிறோம்; ஆனால், மீண்டும் நாம் (உயிர் கொடுக்கப்பெற்று) எழுப்பப்டப் போகிறவர்கள் அல்ல.

in this world we made a curse to follow them and on the day of judgment they will be among the loathed (and despised).
இன்னும், இவ்வுலகில் அவர்களைச் சாபம் தொடருமாறு நாம் செய்தோம்; கியாம நாளில் அவர்கள் இகழப்பட்டவர்களாகவே இருப்பார்கள்.

then there are others who say, "our lord, give us what is good in this world and also what is good in the hereafter and save us from the torment of fire."
இன்னும் அவர்களில் சிலர், "ரப்பனா! (எங்கள் இறைவனே!) எங்களுக்கு இவ்வுலகில் நற்பாக்கியங்களைத் தந்தருள்வாயாக. மறுமையிலும் நற்பாக்கியங்களைத் தந்தருள்வாயாக. இன்னும் எங்களை(நரக) நெருப்பின் வேதனையிலிருந்தும் காத்தருள்வாயாக!" எனக் கேட்போரும் அவர்களில் உண்டு.

and they say: there is nothing but our life in this world; we live and die and nothing destroys us but time, and they have no knowledge of that; they only conjecture.
மேலும் (மறுமையை நம்பாத) அவர்கள்; "நமது இந்த உலக வாழ்க்கையைத் தவிர வேறு (வாழ்க்கை) கிடையாது நாம் இறக்கிறோம்; ஜீவிக்கிறோம்; "காலம்" தவிர வேறெதுவும் நம்மை அழிப்பதில்லை" என்று கூறுகிறார்கள்; அவர்களுக்கு அது பற்றிய அறிவு கிடையாது - அவர்கள் (இது பற்றிக் கற்பனையாக) எண்ணுவதைத் தவிர வேறில்லை.

and they say: "what is there but our life in this world? we shall die and we live, and nothing but time can destroy us." but of that they have no knowledge: they merely conjecture:
மேலும் (மறுமையை நம்பாத) அவர்கள்; "நமது இந்த உலக வாழ்க்கையைத் தவிர வேறு (வாழ்க்கை) கிடையாது நாம் இறக்கிறோம்; ஜீவிக்கிறோம்; "காலம்" தவிர வேறெதுவும் நம்மை அழிப்பதில்லை" என்று கூறுகிறார்கள்; அவர்களுக்கு அது பற்றிய அறிவு கிடையாது - அவர்கள் (இது பற்றிக் கற்பனையாக) எண்ணுவதைத் தவிர வேறில்லை.

those who seek merely the present world and its adornment. we fully recompense them for their work in this world, and they are made to suffer no diminution in it concerning what is their due.
எவரேனும் இவ்வுலக வாழ்க்கையையும், அதன் அலங்காரத்தையும் (மட்டுமே) நாடினால் அவர்களுடைய செயல்களுக்குரிய (பலன்களை) இவ்வுலகத்திலேயே நிறைவேற்றுவோம்; அவற்றில், அவர்கள் குறைவு செய்யப்பட மாட்டார்கள்.

so did they not see what is before them and what is behind them in the sky and the earth? if we will, we can bury them into the earth or cause a part of the sky to fall on them; indeed in this is a sign for every repentant bondman.
வானத்திலும், பூமியிலும் அவர்களுக்கு முன்னாலுள்ளதையும் அவர்களுக்குப் பின்னாலுள்ளதையும் அவர்கள் பார்க்க வில்லையா? நாம் நாடினால் அவர்களை பூமியினுள் சொருகி விடுவோம்; அல்லது வானத்திலிருந்து அவர்கள் மீது ஒரு துண்டை விழச்செய்து (அவர்களை அழித்து) விடுவோம்; (அல்லாஹ்வையே) முன்னோக்கி நிற்கும் ஒவ்வோர் அடியானுக்கும் நிச்சயமாக இதில் ஓர் அத்தாட்சி இருக்கிறது.

no one can die before his appointed term except in accordance with the law of god. and to him who desires a reward in this world, we shall give it; and to him who desires a reward in the life to come, we shall do that. we shall certainly reward those who are grateful.
மேலும், எந்த ஆன்மாவும் (முன்னரே) எழுதப்பட்டிருக்கும் தவணைக்கு இணங்க, அல்லாஹவின் அனுமதியின்றி, மரணிப்பதில்லை. எவரேனும் இந்த உலகத்தின் பலனை (மட்டும்) விரும்பினால், நாம் அவருக்கு அதிலிருந்தே வழங்குவோம்;. இன்னும் எவர், மறுமையின் நன்மையை விரும்புகிறாரோ அவருக்கு அதிலிருந்து வழங்குவோம்;. நன்றியுடையோருக்கு அதி சீக்கரமாக நற்கூலி கொடுக்கிறோம்.

it is not given to any soul to die except with the leave of allah, and at an appointed time. and he who desires his reward in this world, we shall grant him the reward of this world; and he who desires the reward of the other world, we shall grant him the reward of the other world. and soon shall we reward the ones who are grateful.
மேலும், எந்த ஆன்மாவும் (முன்னரே) எழுதப்பட்டிருக்கும் தவணைக்கு இணங்க, அல்லாஹவின் அனுமதியின்றி, மரணிப்பதில்லை. எவரேனும் இந்த உலகத்தின் பலனை (மட்டும்) விரும்பினால், நாம் அவருக்கு அதிலிருந்தே வழங்குவோம்;. இன்னும் எவர், மறுமையின் நன்மையை விரும்புகிறாரோ அவருக்கு அதிலிருந்து வழங்குவோம்;. நன்றியுடையோருக்கு அதி சீக்கரமாக நற்கூலி கொடுக்கிறோம்.

and when it is said unto those who fear: what is it that your lord hath sent down? they say: that which is better. for those who do good is good in this world, and the dwelling of the hereafter is better. excellent is the dwelling of the god-fearing!
பயபக்தியுள்ளவர்களிடம், "உங்களுடைய இறைவன் எதை இறக்கி வைத்தான்?" என்று (குர்ஆனை குறிப்பிட்டு) அவர்களிடம் கேட்கப்பட்டபோது "நன்மையையே (அருளினான்)" என்று அவர்கள் (பதில்) கூறுவார்கள். எவர் அழகான நன்மை புரிந்தார்களோ, அவர்களுக்கு இவ்வுலகிலும் அழகான நன்மையுண்டு இன்னும், மறுமை வீடானது (அவர்களுக்கு மிக) மேலானதாகவும் இருக்கும், பயபக்தியுடையவர்களுடைய வீடு நிச்சயமாக நேர்த்தியானது!

and ordain for us what is good in this world and in the world to come for to you have we turned.'he replied: 'i afflict whomsoever i wish with my chastisement. as for my mercy, it encompasses everything. will show mercy to those who abstain from evil, pay zakat and have faith in our signs.'
"இன்னும் இவ்வுலகத்திலும், மறுமையிலும் எங்களுக்கு (அழகிய) நன்மைகளையே விதித்தருள்வாயாக! நிச்சயமாக நாங்கள் உன்னையே முன்னோக்குகிறோம்" (என்றும் பிரார்த்தித்தார்). அதற்கு இறைவன், "என்னுடைய அருளானது எல்லாப் பொருள்களிலும் (விரிந்து, பரந்து) சூழ்ந்து நிற்கிறது எனினும் அதனை பயபக்தியுடன் (பேணி) நடப்போருக்கும், (முறையாக) ஜகாத்து கொடுத்து வருவோருக்கும் நம்முடைய வசனங்களை நம்புகிறவர்களுக்கும் நான் விதித்தருள் செய்வேன்" என்று கூறினான்.

and no person can ever die except by allah's leave and at an appointed term. and whoever desires a reward in (this) world, we shall give him of it; and whoever desires a reward in the hereafter, we shall give him thereof. and we shall reward the grateful
