they have aroused our wrath,
"நிச்சயமாக இவர்கள் நம்மை(ப் பெருங்) கோபத்திற்குள்ளாக்கி விட்டனர்.

who have certainly provoked our wrath.
"நிச்சயமாக இவர்கள் நம்மை(ப் பெருங்) கோபத்திற்குள்ளாக்கி விட்டனர்.

"so taste ye my wrath and my warning."
"ஆகவே, என்(னால் உண்டாகும்) வேதனையையும் எச்சரிக்கையையும் சுவைத்துப் பாருங்கள்" (என்று கூறினோம்).

nor could any of you withhold him (from our wrath).
அன்றியும், உங்களில் எவரும் (நாம்) அ(வ்வாறு செய்வ)தைத் தடுப்பவர்களில்லை.

"we only fear a day of distressful wrath from the side of our lord."
"எங்கள் இறைவனிடமிருந்து, (எங்கள்) முகங் கடுகடுத்துச் சுண்டிவிடும் நாளை நிச்சயமாக நாங்கள் பயப்படுகிறோம்" (என்றும் கூறுவர்).

and assuredly those before them belied; then what wise hath been my wrath!
அன்றியும் அவர்களுக்கு முன் இருந்தார்களே அவர்களும் (நம் வசனங்களை இவ்வாறே) பொய்ப்பித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தனர், என் எச்சரிக்கை எவ்வளவு கடுமையாக இருந்தது?

and the fifth that allah's wrath be upon her if he is of the truthtellers.
ஐந்தாவது முறை, "அவன் உண்மையாளர்களிலுள்ளவனானால் நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ்வுடைய கோபம் தன்மீது உண்டாவதாக என்றும் (அவள் கூற வேண்டும்).

and on the fifth time the wrath of allah shall be upon her if he is of the truthful.
ஐந்தாவது முறை, "அவன் உண்மையாளர்களிலுள்ளவனானால் நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ்வுடைய கோபம் தன்மீது உண்டாவதாக என்றும் (அவள் கூற வேண்டும்).

and, a fifth time that god's wrath will be upon her if he is telling the truth.
ஐந்தாவது முறை, "அவன் உண்மையாளர்களிலுள்ளவனானால் நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ்வுடைய கோபம் தன்மீது உண்டாவதாக என்றும் (அவள் கூற வேண்டும்).

and a fifth (time) that the wrath of allah be upon her if he speaketh truth.
ஐந்தாவது முறை, "அவன் உண்மையாளர்களிலுள்ளவனானால் நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ்வுடைய கோபம் தன்மீது உண்டாவதாக என்றும் (அவள் கூற வேண்டும்).

and the fifth (time) that the wrath of allah be on her if he is one of the truthful.
ஐந்தாவது முறை, "அவன் உண்மையாளர்களிலுள்ளவனானால் நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ்வுடைய கோபம் தன்மீது உண்டாவதாக என்றும் (அவள் கூற வேண்டும்).

and a fifth [oath] that allah’s wrath shall be upon him if he were lying.
ஐந்தாவது முறை, "(இதில்) தான் பொய் சொல்வதாக இருந்தால், நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ்வுடைய சாபம் தன்மீது உண்டாகட்டும்" என்றும் (அவன் கூற வேண்டும்).

or, are the people of the township secure that our wrath would not come upon them by daylight while they are disporting themselves?
அல்லது அவ்வூர் வாசிகள் (கவலையில்லாது) பகலில் விளையாடிக்கொண்டிருக்கும் போதே, நமது வேதனை அவர்களையடையாது என பயமில்லாமல் இருக்கின்றார்களா?

(it is) the fire of (the wrath of) allah kindled (to a blaze),
அது எரிந்து கொண்டிருக்கும் அல்லாஹ்வின் நெருப்பாகும்.

'and those who strive against our signs to void them -- theirs shall be a chastisement of painful wrath.'
மேலும், எவர்கள் நம் வசனங்களை (எதிர்த்துத்) தோற்கடிக்க முயல்கின்றார்களோ, அவர்களுக்கு நோவினை செய்யும் கடினமான வேதனையுண்டு.

(of just such wrath) as we sent down on those who divided (scripture into arbitrary parts),-
(நபியே! முன் வேதங்களை) பலவாறாகப் பிரித்தவர்கள் மீது முன்னர் நாம் (வேதனையை) இறக்கியவாறே,

if but a breath of the wrath of thy lord do touch them, they will then say, "woe to us! we did wrong indeed!"
உம்முடைய இறைவனிடமிருந்துள்ள வேதனையிலிருந்து ஒரு மூச்சு அவர்களைத் தீண்டுமானாலும், "எங்களுக்குக் கேடு தான்! திட்டமாக நாங்கள் அநியாயக்காரர்களாகவே இருந்தோம்" என்று அவர்கள் நிச்சயமாக கூ(றிக் கத)றுவார்கள்.

and allah repulsed the disbelievers in their wrath; they gained no good. allah averted their attack from the believers. allah is ever strong, mighty.
நிராகரிப்பவர்களை தங்களுடைய கோபத்தில் (மூழ்கிக்கிடக்குமாறே அல்லாஹ் அவர்களைத் திருப்பிவிட்டான்; (ஆதலால் இந்தப் போரில்) அவர்கள் ஒரு நன்மையையும் அடையவில்லை, மேலும் போரில் முஃமின்களுக்கு அல்லாஹ் போதுமானவன், மேலும் அல்லாஹ் பேராற்றலுடையவன்; (யாவரையும்) மிகைத்தவன்.

as for those who dispute about god after having answered his call, their argument is invalid with their lord; and upon them falls wrath; and a grievous torment awaits them.
எவர்கள் அல்லாஹ்வை ஒப்புக் கொண்டபின், அவனைப்பற்றி தர்க்கித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறார்களோ, அவர்களுடைய தர்க்கம் அவர்களுடைய இறைவனிடத்தில் பயனற்றதாகும்; அதனால் அவர்கள் மீது (அவனுடைய) கோபம் ஏற்பட்டு, கடினமான வேதனையும் அவர்களுக்கு உண்டாகும்.
