omdat ek uit jou uitroei die regverdige en die goddelose, daarom sal my swaard uit sy skede uitgaan teen alle vlees, van die suide tot die noorde.

toe sê jesus vir petrus: steek jou swaard in die skede. die beker wat die vader my gegee het, sal ek dit dan nie drink nie?
then said jesus unto peter, put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my father hath given me, shall i not drink it?

daarop het dawid gehardloop en by die filistyn gaan staan en sy swaard geneem, dit uit sy skede getrek en hom van kant gemaak, en hy het daarmee sy hoof afgekap. toe die filistyne sien dat hulle held dood was, het hulle gevlug.
therefore david ran, and stood upon the philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. and when the philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled.

when they were at the great stone which is in gibeon, amasa went before them. and joab's garment that he had put on was girded unto him, and upon it a girdle with a sword fastened upon his loins in the sheath thereof; and as he went forth it fell out.
