beton besteht aus kalkstein, ton, sand, kies und wasser. je nach mischung dieser komponenten lassen sich unterschiedliche arten von beton herstellen, wie z.b. leichtbeton (rohdichte 2,8 kg/dm³), normalbeton (rohdichte von ca. 2,0 bis 2,8 kg/dm³), stahlbeton (verbund von stahl und beton), asphaltbeton (beifügung von straßenbitumen als bindemittel), transportbeton, usw. sie alle bringen unterschiedliche eigenschaften mit, insbesondere in bezug auf tragfähigkeit, sicherheit, wärme-, brand-, schall- oder feuchteschutz.
