veel van mijn materiaal verzamel ik 'on the spot' met behulp van een dictafoontje.
much of my material i gather on the spot using a dictaphone.

dus heb ik de nederlandse tekst in het ene dictafoontje ingesproken en onder het rijden van fanore naar galway de vertaling in de andere.
so i recorded the dutch text on one dictaphone and, while driving from fanore to galway, spoke the translation into the other one.

omdat ik mijn dictafoontje niet kon vinden ben ik wel 10 keer gestopt om nieuwe ingevingen aan het papier toe te vertrouwen. eerst was ik er van overtuigd dat dit gedicht niet in het engels te vertalen was, maar op uitdaging van willem heb ik het toch geprobeerd.
as i could not find my dictaphone i must have halted over 10 times to entrust new brainwaves to paper. at first i was sure that this poem could not be translated in english, but upon willem’s challenge i gave it a try.

met mijn twee jassen, binnenjas, hoody en bodywarmer heb ik in totaal 34 zakken tot mijn beschikking en daarvan heb ik er tot nu toe 28 actief in gebruik. paspoort, visitekaartjes, dictafoontje, notitieboekje, alles heeft z'n plek en is daar wanneer nodig. het is even organiseren en onthouden en dan is het een weelde om alles zo bij de hand te hebben.
with my two coats, inner coat, hoody and body warmer i have a total of 34 pockets at my disposal of which until now 28 are in active use. passport, business cards, dictaphone, paper notebook, everything has its place and is there when i need it. it takes a bit of organizing and remembering, but then it is sheer luxury to have everything at hand.
