i would particularly express my gratitude for the words of mr patten, who, on behalf of the european parliament, is also going to communicate a message of solidarity to the colombian authorities in relation to the attack which killed many people in bogotá last weekend.

afgezien van de al ingediende ontwerp-resolutie, waarvan wij graag hadden dat deze aanstaande donderdag werd besproken en aangenomen, denk ik de gevoelens van alle collega's in dit parlement te vertolken wanneer ik u, mijnheer de voorzitter, verzoek het initiatief te nemen om in naam van het europees parlement een solidariteitsboodschap te sturen aan het gemeentebestuur, en met name aan de burgemeester, die nog niet zo lang geleden onze collega was, aan alle wethouders en aan de bevolking van lissabon.
without calling into question the motion for a resolution which we have already tabled and which we would like to see discussed and passed next thursday, i hope that i am speaking for everyone in this chamber by asking you, mr president, on behalf of the european parliament, to take the initiative of sending a message of support to the city authorities, in particular the mayor of lisbon who until recently was our colleague, to all of the city elders and to the people of lisbon.
