si: «herren påbyr rettferdighet!
say (o muhammad saw): my lord has commanded justice and (said) that you should face him only (i.e. worship none but allah and face the qiblah, i.e. the ka'bah at makkah during prayers) in each and every place of worship, in prayers (and not to face other false deities and idols), and invoke him only making your religion sincere to him by not joining in worship any partner to him and with the intention that you are doing your deeds for allah's sake only.

si: «gud påbyr ingen skjendighet!
(muhammad) tell them that god does not command anyone to commit indecency.

satan truer dere med fattigdom og påbyr skjendighet.
satan frightens you of poverty and prompts you to [commit] indecent acts.

gud påbyr rettferd og godhet, og gavmildhet mot familie.
allah orders justice, and good deeds, and giving to one's kindred.

kan vel han settes likt med ham som påbyr rettferd, og selv er på den rette vei?
can he be considered equal to the one who maintains justice and follows the right path?

satan truer dere med fattigdom og påbyr skjendighet. gud lover sin tilgivelse, og sin yndest.
satan holds out to you the threat of poverty and prompts you to adopt a shameless niggardly conduct, but allah holds out from himself the promise of pardon and bounty: allah is all-embracing, all-knowing.

gud påbyr at dere leverer tilbake betrodd gods til eiermannen, og at dere dømmer rettferdig når dere sitter til doms.
allah commands you to deliver trusts to those worthy of them; and when you judge between people, to judge with justice.

gud påbyr rettferd og godhet, og gavmildhet mot familie. han forbyr det skjendige og forkastelige, og voldsferd.
allah commands justice, the doing of good, and liberality to kith and kin, and he forbids all shameful deeds, and injustice and rebellion: he instructs you, that ye may receive admonition.

gud påbyr at dere leverer tilbake betrodd gods til eiermannen, og at dere dømmer rettferdig når dere sitter til doms. utmerket er det som gud formaner dere til.
indeed allah commands you to hand over whatever you hold in trust, to their owners – and that whenever you judge between people, judge with fairness; undoubtedly allah gives you an excellent advice; indeed allah is all hearing, all seeing.

dem, som hvis vi gir dem fotfeste på jorden, forretter bønnen, betaler det rituelle bidrag, påbyr det rette og forbyr det urette.
(allah will certainly help) those who, were we to bestow authority on them in the land, will establish prayers, render zakah, enjoin good, and forbid evil.

si: «herren påbyr rettferdighet! utfør de hellige handlinger på ethvert bønnested, påkall ham idet dere tilegner ham en oppriktig dyrkelse.
say thou; my lord hath enjoined equity, and that ye shall set your faces aright at every prostration, and call on him, making religion pure for him.

dem, som hvis vi gir dem fotfeste på jorden, forretter bønnen, betaler det rituelle bidrag, påbyr det rette og forbyr det urette. gud tilhører alle tings endelige utgang.
(they are) those who, if we establish them in the land, establish regular prayer and give regular charity, enjoin the right and forbid wrong: with allah rests the end (and decision) of (all) affairs.

om noen begår en skjendighet, sier de: «det er våre fedres tradisjon, og gud har befalt oss å handle slik.» si: «gud påbyr ingen skjendighet!
and when they commit any shameful act they say, “we found our forefathers on it and allah has commanded it to us”; say, “indeed allah does not ordain shamelessness; what!
